I have a Gruppe m induction kit on my car, inside it is a k&n air filter cone, how often should I be cleaning it?

I do my K/n panel filter every 10-20,000miles.

I sometimes take it out and give it a very quick hoover on the dirty side only (not clean/maf side) to pick up all the bits of grit, bugs and debris.

KN website has instructions and their recommended service intervals, but it's something crazy like 100,000 miles?! I seem to remember

As mentioned in the other thread, cotton and foam filters clog up far quicker than stock paper filters and need cleaning fairly frequently.

If the cotton pleats are choked with dirt, it's dirty and needs cleaning. It should be done according to condition rather than set mileages and go easy with the filter oil after you've cleaned it, otherwise your MAF won't be your friend any more!
