Hi. Yes.Mine. I completed the front brake upgrade which I wrote about . I am in the process of trying to change the seats ( negotiating a price on second hand wingbacks is a bit long winded) and the ones I want will not fit without some fabrication on my part, and then on the list are the side skirts, the front splitter, the rear diffuser ( combination of Maxton and TRW) . I also have a rear brake itch to scratch . I like your idea of 4 pots on the rear, and I can see why it makes life easy to keep the o.e caliper . I am toying with using another Combrake caliper but a smaller 4 pot in their range and then going with 340/350mm two piece disc , in which case , I would keep the o.e caliper for the hand brake . Oh, question, will you blank off the hydraulics to your o.e handbrake caliper or use both sets of pads? I assume the former .

The other job is the paintwork, which is in good condition but on close inspection, needs a proper detail , like you did on your stunning car .
So, all in all, lots still to do and I have not mentioned the 'E' word............engine upgrades . Definitely for 2021 I think .

Very nice to hear! A lot of future plans to keep you busy and that is awesome! Also love the idea about dual rear's. I'm going to send you dual rear setup data into PM later tonight (the best possible option to go with and the easiest one - which I may consider too if TTRS callipers won't with under rear wheels) ;)

And yes, OEM calliper hydro plug has to be blanked it's completely fine to run just the handbrake cable which moves the piston through the spring :)

Woah it feels crazy that I didn't post anything in here for almost a month! I just want to keep the quality of this thread at highest rate possible :) Again a little bit longer posts to read incoming...

The car is sitting in the garage for 2 months or so I believe. I plan to maybe start it around holidays for a few minutes. Even if the car is sitting it doesn't mean nothing is going on. This post will mostly be dedicated to R32 related essential and the next to my personal research, which may even further confirm that I am more than serious when I say this car were my dreams

Otherwise things are going great. I am slowly collecting parts for my final V3 build which is going to be the final version. By getting front 400mm Aventador brakes, the rears has to be sorted out as well. I already run the 356mm rear setup with OEM caliper but I want to go dual caliper.

This is where the collab with @VelovetAndy started. I didn't expect anyone from this forum to be so kind to collab with me due to the large distance we are apart. Andy is super nice guy with a lot of skills and experiences at automotive field and you can check it yourself in his build thread (which is called New Owner). We basically both opt in for dual rear caliper setup, using OEM R32 calipers + Porche Cayenne rear 4 pot calipers, combined with 356mm Audi A6/A8 Discs. I must mention we are both kinda DIY guys who love to research things around and rear brakes are no different. Andy sorted out the rear Porsche calipers for me, and shipped them from UK to my address in Europe! Even got me the rebuild set from BiggRed! What an honor! This whole section is a story for another post so I will finish here and explain the whole setup and things we have discovered in future, once everything is prepared as it should be! Thanks again Andy!

Moving on.

My R32 essential parts collection

I am a huge lover of anything related to the R32's. I also make custom things related to the R32 merchandise for myself.

So I have bought some things that are going to be shown in my little museum in the garage where the R32 is going to sit (by the way, planning to renovate the whole garage in 2021). It is going to be like some kind of R32 holy room

First I found out original selling brochure in Germany, together with pricing brochure with all the addons that came with the Golf 5 R32. Both in perfect conditions!!! Not signed or anything! In german as it should be! :D Both brochures are from 2006!

Second thing I wished for the longest time was the magazine that would include the presentation of the R32. And I got it in perfect condition! The special edition of Auto Zeitung which is from 2005 and is comparing the R32, Audi A3 3.2L and the Bmw 130i. The R32 won of course

But that's not all. I've also bought some OEM things from VW Classic Parts. For all of you who don't know yet, the golf 5 R32 is slowly stepping into the VW Classics program as an exlusive vehicle which will become more rare in the years that follow.

The first item produced from the Golf 5 R32 in the program is rear hatch emblem. Which I also bought beside the R32 show register plates.

I also bought the R32 keychain, which is actually the mk4 r32 essential but I had to get it. Won't be used, I will rather put it on the shelf to show.

There was a great offer for the R32 Pen and an Umbrella which are super rare, but sadly I had to say no to. Thinking about saying no more often

Hard to do when it is connected with the R32 :D

First I wish everyone on here a blessed, happy and healthy Christmas

When it comes to perfection, there are sometimes mistakes from previous owners to remove. There were not much on my R32 but these three things were really making me nervous everytime when I saw them!

So after a year and 2 months of ownership I finally decided to order new OEM replacement parts for my R32. 3 things that needed replacement were:

- trunk floormat wich had a hole cut in it for the sound system. Who even needs sound system in the R32
shok.gif
This one may become handy in future once I start building the air suspension management system

- trunk edge plastic where tabs were all broken so the plastic itself was holding into place very ugly with a spreads on top
sad.png

- passenger side door handle which actually had just a minor edge missing. Most people wouldn't even notice but it bothered me

Received everything in less than a week by the local VW dealer. Paid 195€ with the 15% discount.

I also managed to get R32 front grill (OEM) for just 50€!! It has a little crack on top of the silver part but nothing major, easy fixable! :) You know, extra spare parts are always welcome

Cracking price on the grill. And I am impressed that the black boot trim is available. God bless VW .
Well. I got my hands on another part for a crazy low amount of money!

I know everybody is now going to say WTF illegal, are you now used R32 part collector or?
wacko.png

After this post, I may not post a lot, because I am collecting the parts for my final version build which is going to start happening in the beggining of 2022. Don't want to do bit by bit. Going to dig in bigger and better. Believe me it is going to be worth the wait.

In the meantime, I am going to renovate/rebuild the garage which is going to be the R32 showroom + working place. Might do a future post or two about that. Something like the R32 Holy Hall
smile.gif
Might also start my own YT channel related to my R32

.............................................................................................................................................................................................

Used R32 OEM parts in our county are super rare. So people don't even know how much these are worth, or are potenitally going to be worth in future. When any OEM R32 parts are listed for sale online (super rare occasion) I instantly get notified by the friends who know my R32 obsession very well
rofl.gif

I am always streaming after getting used bodykit parts for R32 just so I have a set in stock
fool.gif
Last December this R32 OEM rear bumper came on Facebook Marketplace for sale. Complete! With parking sensors! For 150€!! Just perfect for my classic part collection I may never need
wacko.gif

I quickly messaged the lad and told him to take it off the market. The next day I decided to drive to him to buy the bumper. It was snowing like crazy! Full lockdown which doesn't allow area transpassing. Heee. Not when it comes to the R32. Just sit in the van and drove 50 km's on the unploughed road, passing over 3 "lockdown" areas
pleasantry.gif
Had major luck not getting caught and arrived home safely. Oh and got the whole thing for the 140€ at the end
smile.gif

Bumper was installed on a TDI
ph34r.png
The paint is a little bit messed up, but it doesn't even matter, the bumper has to be repainted anyway. All the tabs are in perfect condition. Once the weather gets better I am going to give the whole thing a good clean and storage it safely.

Some of you may think I quit posting (like most of the build thread ends but not this one), some of you may not even care about this thread and some of you may actually be happy to se another post after a while!

I won't tell any of the secrets I have prepared (actually Andy W. knows most of them since we talk a lot and I am grateful for his help!) but you will have to wait a little bit longer for that!

The fact is that my R32 is collecting dust for the last 8 months! Started it only once for a short amount of time. I really have no need to drive it just yet, weather is crazy and it is about to snow again tonight. But I do miss it. A lot.

In the meantime. Big things are happening behind the stage and only a few parts are missing before I am fully ready to build the one last final version of this car. I do not plan to start this year tho. Starting my own business connected with cars and it requires all of my free time.

Me, of course, very complicated man when it comes to my R32, wouldn't be me if I wouldn't dig and dig. Deep, very deep for certain informations.

I have found the second owner of my car (2009-2013) and contacted him. He has bought the car with less than 10.000km on the clock. He couldn't believe the car is still in a perfect shape! Enough talking, I will past 2 pictures from back then (got them from 2nd owner), when the car was still OEM. And sometimes it grabs me to go back to OEM! But hell no!

I think this might be a case of wishful thinking my friend, there's always one more thing (or more commonly in my case a list of many more things)
wink.gif
Believe me. This is going to be at the highest level of all R32 builds. And no, I have developed my thinking to a stage where I know when it is enough (when there is no more to add).

Of that I have no doubt, yours and Andy's threads are completely amazing, a real treat to follow.

The rest I guess we will have to see with time :) I've thought similar previously and yet there's always something else that comes up (not that mine will ever be at the level of you guys).

I know what you mean and let's hope you are wrong

And do not worry, everyone does what he can best with their car. You have my support for even owning the R32

Car looks awesome man. Loving the progress.
Thank you.

Not a lot to add here. But I know that your final build will be something else . Oh, good work on tracking down the last owner.

I believe this is the last upgrade on my list so far. Last but far away from least. Next 2 or 3 posts are going to be covering my future plans with the R32, my new daily and tons of new pictures ;)

POLAR FIS ADVANCED PARAMETER SYSTEM

Polar FIS+ is the plug and play "system" that plug's into CAN-BUS plug and then the CAN-BUS plugs into Polar FIS+.

It provides all sorts of data on main display. You can see total of 36 parameters in real time such as oil temeprature, speed, fuel liters, DSG temperature, exhaust temperatures etc etc. Basically everhing that has a sensor!

You can also track your times such as acceleration from 100-200, 0-200 etc etc.

You can also diagnose the car and set parameters so you don't have to use VCDS everytime :)

Probably one of the best upgrades done to the car you can check the Polar here.

The Polar FIS pluged into CAN modul

I fitted a Polar Fis a couple of months ago and added a few notes on my build thread. However, to save you the journey, access to the Canbus gateway is via the scuttle . So, wiper arms off, followed by the plastic scuttle . Next, the wiper motor plus linkage has to come out. The gateway is hiding under a cover that is held in place by three screws. Remove the cover and voila, one canbus gateway, plugging in the Polar and tucking it safely away will take all of five minutes. However, a tip. Leave the computer cable attached and feed it down into the footwell before replacing the cover and all the wiper gubbins . If you need subsequently to do any software updates on the Polar, you will have ready access. I forgot to do this, so any upgrade will require a replay of the above.

Just said to myself I should post a little breaker. Last week I put my R32 out of garage after sitting for 9 months. Went straight back in after 2 hours or so. 0 kilometers driven this year

Recently I've opened my own company, where we provide and make custom big brake kits, we are also the biggest brake components seller in the country with over 200+ brake sets in stock, we also refurbish brake calipers, provide custom slotted/drilled brake discs, custom braided brake lines and much more. Never thought I am going to develop something from my addiction with big brakes.

Would be more than happy if you would check my company out on instagram

Anyway this situation put my R32 into a corner for a little bit. The car is now on stock wheels, because I am going to sell the OZ Superleggera III wheels together with KW V2 coilovers (barely used - around 8000km's).

Take care. Until next time
