Hey Guys,

noticed that most of you are using Carbonio induction kits.... read a couple of reviews etc seems like a decent bit of kit just wondering if anyone has a ruff idea of price fitting and where to get one from?

Cheers

I got mine from Awesome GTI in Manchester and fitted it myself...it's not hard to fit really if ya remotely good with spanners..it cost £195 i think...Hope this helps
£195 for a pipe of tubing with a filter on the end of it.. Thats a totally ludicrus price,

I wish I was the boffin that thought of selling these!!
Gti fly you put things into perspective, are we agreed in thinking its a worthwhile mod?

Cheers paulie for your info
Definately worth while, crisper throttle, deeper sound and of course a great looking bit of carbon
Pictures would be nice,lol.

The filter goes down behind the vent in the front bumper, so if you fit one either get a set of vents with holes in or cut the holes out of the ones in your car...it's easy to do with a craft knife.lets the cold air in better...Just don't go through any very deep puddles as it will suck water straight in to your engine!!!!
Think someone on here got water sucked into there car's engine?, Due to the pipe sitting behind the grill.

It was RFR32s old car - which now belongs to Scotty
How much of a problem is the carbonio with regards to water? Are we talking floods here or are we talking .. we need to be careful when it rains. As water in the engine is a bit of a problem isnt it?
Well it's tucked back behind the vent...so rains not a real problem and it's about 8 to 10 inches off the floor i think so just don't drive through any deep puddles....:xD:xD

Here is a picture of it behind the vent...well I took the vent out so it can be seen....it looks like it needs a clean!!

Personally I don't think it's worth while for that sum of money, plus you run the risk of water logging the engine (= bent internals) which can happen seeing as we always seem to get mental rain storms in the UK.

I've run a k/n panel air filter for 50,000 miles or more on my R32, and fitted the DSG r32 air snorkel (Which is quite a bit bigger than regular R32 parts), and it's been totally fine for me.

Personally I think those Carbonios are for looks rather than function at that price.
Well I like the carbonios looks ...it's like changing the wheels on your car for after market ones...they still only go round at the end of the day....it's only done for looks and possibly the new ones may be a bit lighter!!!!
But with regards to sound and performance, what works best? Not come across the DSG snorkel thing before.Excuse my ignorence, but what is involved in that,? what makes it different/better from the standard one
I have a BMC CDA with the snorkel pipe behind the horn and vented grills. I can't run a carbonio as I have to drive through a ford and I would suck up water. With the BMC I noticed a much smoother delivery of power but no increase of noise as it has long intake pipe. If I took the pipe off however its noisey as hell not that it needs to be any louder with the milltek already on there. Personally I think the carbon box of the BMC looks nice in the engine bay :D

Im thinkin about putting a VF engineering kit on mine, but I'm a little confused now.
Well the MKV aint fitted the same way as MKIV, so I'm wondering if I should be afraid of floods in the pipes if I fit one?

I've got the BMC carbon airbox fitted too (without ducting as I love the sound!):xD. I think its a much better solution than the Typhoon or Carbonio options as the risk of water suction is much lower. On a daily driver in this climate that led my decision. Also think it looks nice in the bay.
