hi all, im not an apple fan if im honest but the missus has a iphone 4s, kids have ipods and ipads but i have an issue with the 4s and it cannot connect to wifi at home, the button is greyed out. google it and there seems to be a issue with this phone...Im going to update the software as there is a update on the itunes, how do i make sure it backups up the camera roll photos she has on the phone (all 1700 of them!!!!!!)

i dont want to update and delete them!!

ok think i figured it out, theres a ipod cache in the pictures which you dont see normally only when through itunes.... sod it ive started it now.....

If she has joined up the iTunes and then join up to iCloud and it saves it to that , that way the should get back to her phone iirc , I got the I phone 5 from a 4s and I typed the password in and then they was all on my phone of I clould , clever stuff

My wife's 4s did this no wifi and no Bluetooth she took it to the apple shop and they give her a new phone within 2 mins of looking at it quite a common fault

yeah i have heard a few people on the net saying that, do you know if the phone is in warranty. update successful and still no wifi!!! arrgh

i had this

the cause: updating IOS through the phone rather than the computer (although only a small percentage suffer)

the fix: ... there isnt one, i took mine to apple and they said ahhhhh and laughed, then got me a brand new phone out from the back

summary: its shagged, and i hope you have some warranty left

uh oh, saying that it may not be shagged, apples policy seems to be, to hand out new phones rather than fix them because its easier, im sure its a hardware issue, not a software issue so updating and restoring wont do anything, take it to a phone shop to see if they can help. just thought id share my experience

Check the restore drop down menu and look at the date of last back up

hi nick i think its me, i backed it up and they were all there, i then must have updated the software on it then backed it up and it wrote over the previous back up , apparently thats a problem with apple , so now my back up file is a back up of nothing. Thats what i think i did. strangley enough there is a bit fo software that has found the photos on there well it says it has but it wants me to pay £50 and i dont want to take the risk for the sake of being scammed. bascially everything, pictures, contacts, calendar reminders which she has all the info of appointments at great ormand street for our daughter and hospital phone numbers.... shes not happy as you can imagine and didnt speak to me this morning (thats not a bad thing)
