Better late than never though i'd make a build thread.

So after finally making up my mind on what car I truly wanted, I set out on a lovely Saturday morning to go take a look at her, little did I know i'd be taking her home!

She was advertised at the perfect price, she was the perfect spec, mileage and condition that being Deep Blue Pearl, low miles (sub 50k) and 3 doors and what made it an even sweeter deal was that she came already fitted with a non-res milltek and ap coilovers and other little things here and there.

After handing over a few wads of £20's and £50's and counting it all out the keys were handed over, Sadly not to me but one of my friends who whacked on his traders plates and drove her 8 0 miles home while I sat in the car in front.

Enough of my story the car the day i collected it!

After less than a week i started buying little things here and there.

Key fob badges and a stubby polo Ariel

Then I made a list:

Big brakes
Decat
wheels
remap
bumper re-painted
private plate moved
and other little things.

Brakes all sorted just yet to have them fitted and a group buy popped up for some adjustable rear tie arms, jumped on these right away to get that rear camber sorted!

Talk to me about wheels your planning
Rotiform BLQ's or Porsche cup speedlines are on my mind at the moment.

Need to get round to taking some proper pictures again once i've got my cupra splitter sorted but here's two i took a while ago.

Looking good Jack.
Thanks!

She's now booked for a Stage 2 remap at MRC! Will be getting rid of that annoying Engine management light and brakes on in the next few weeks hopefully!

After a bad week it's ended on a high, to start off my wing mirror got destroyed by a stone going so I had to buy a new one, only £21 from the stealers

End up taking it to a local body shop that got it sorted for me however I ended up cracking the glass when trying to take it the undamaged one (decided to get them both re-painted) but both of them are looking ace now and chuffed to bits even got a few quotes on having my bumper done and plate plinth removed
and now to get her looking pretty for sunday!

Wow that MK4 R32 is looking so fresh for an older car. Awesome shots Jack. This thread definitely needs some photos of that Porsche BBK fitted

So woke up this Morning looking forward to getting my car mapped (stage 2), EML removed and a general health check, Drove 50+ miles to get to MRC tunning. Me and my friend arrived there at just gone 9am parked the car up hopped out and went to go and see Doug, had a quick chat about the car and then he took the keys off me so he could get to work!

Shot off for a quick breakfast and a drink to wake me up and get me ready for the rest of the day, got back to MRC at about 10ish as walking into the yard i could hear her purrrring away on the rollers, first time i had heard her from the outside of the car and WOW I love the noise even more with the decat on sat down inside and was greated by Doug with bad news.

This is not what i wanted but on the other hand I'm please, Doug had ran a bunch of different tests and diagnostic tests and he wasn't happy to map the car due to an issue with something being out by -15, he seems to think that it's one of the knock sensors playing up and not allowing the pistons to get all the way up so that they don't hit the head.

So all in all I'm glad I didn't take my car anywhere else otherwise if this issue wasn't found and the mapping went ahead then it could just be a ticking time bomb and she's back there in 2 weeks to get the issue sorted and mapped, and the best part about it i wasn't charged!

I think, what he was referring to was the timing of the spark of the spark plug and it's relationship to the piston top dead centre (TDC). If the engine is turning and the piston is connected to the crankshaft by the connecting rod, as it should be, it will always go all the way up.

I would assume the -15 relates to the plug firing -15 degrees from piston TDC. The knock sensor advances / retards the ignition to prevent pre-detonation or as we called it in the old days "pinking"
