Max speed of standard R32 ?

if there is a thread for this please direct me to it !

i know the vw quoted max speed for the mk4 r32 is 153 mph .... from experience having owned a vr6 in the past the vw max quoted speed for the vr6 was a little conservative then ... i vaguely recall it being 137 mph. From my vr6 highline when i owned it i got on the speedo 145 mph (so taking off the over calibration probably in reality doing 142mph) ...... people at work dont seem to believe me that i got 160 mph (on a private road of course) from the R32 ... is this something that other members have experienced ? cheers

i got 163 on the GPS on my car, the speedo was reading over 170! my car is chipped and milltek exhaust

I got 160 (per speedo) and she was trying but wouldn't go any higher presumably due to wind resistance.

yes i have to be honest that the speedo was hovering over the 160 mark ... and at 150 it stood still ... shame i didnt have me tomtom gps at the same time ! i vaguely recall a golden rule of thumb with vw's was that you could take 0.5s off the 0-60 published time, and maybe add 5 or so mph off the top end so maybe 160mph from a standard R32 isn't so unbelieveable .... albeit taking a bit of time to get there ! not something i'll be doing again !

sounds like a bit of a pub myth to me but I'll have it as my car is stock. Doh, no its not, someone has fitted a carbonio!!:xD

Published top speed for the standard Mk4 is 153 mph IIRC.

I was going to find out on Sunday evening (on my private airfield of course) what the top speed of my .:R was but found out that I'd left my Pogo Alert at home.

Published top speed for the standard Mk4 is 153 mph IIRC.

most cars are governed now by a european limit of 155mph, alot can do more so they just restrict them

Spoke to Ed about this yesterday and he said that the remap would have removed the 155 limiter. He also confirmed that without more bhp through cams or FI, it's unlikely that I'd be able to get much more than 160 out of her anyway!

I've had 160mph out of mine on the flat and 165mph down hill. I was also told the remap would remove any limiter.....

Clearly he's talking about the bottom one in this picture (Really it's just a DBP - which we all know is the fastest colour :xD )

I managed to just touch 270kph....was by myself in the car on my private road...couldnt beleive it tbh...

It freaked me out going that fast, every tree was a blurrrrrrrrrr and evey little dump felt like a massive bump. Slowing down is the best part :xD
