mk4 upgraded from half FIS to full FIS

Im hoping to upgrade to sat nav soon and want it to be a full oem system so ive been looking out for a full fis display for a while. After speaking with Ray (aka aRd) off uk-mkivs forum he said he'd be able to help me out.

I arranged to go up to his yesterday and after a 2 hour drive up the a19 i arrived at Rays. He stripped my clusters down fit a new FIS board, re-programmed the clocks and hey presto, all done.

i now have a fully functioning FIS with illuminated pointers aswell. he also enabled auto windows so i can send the windows up and down via the key fob remote.

At the moment the display shows the radio station at the top, the mpg or average speed etc. in the middle and temp at the bottom. Hes also enabled miles till empty which is really handy.

Im really happy with the results, Rays done an awesome job and would definately recommend him to anyone

How long did it take and a rough cost?

roughly took about 1 1/2 hours but this included the removal and fitting and then the programming and a quick road test to make sure everything worked. It cost £130 but Ray told me the FIS displays are becoming very hard to get hold of but if you look him up and drop him a message on uk-mkivs im sure he'll keep an eye out for you.

I went to see him today..I didn't want the full FIS but I did get the miles till empty,Illuminated pointers,windows operated off fob,my alarm now bleeps when going on and off,doors lock automatically when driving and open again when I remove key(they will also open if i crash as they are connected to airbag system) all for the total sum of....£20:00...What a Top Man...He is going to come on this forum as well I think...I would recommended him

He is based in Thornaby, which is next to middlesbrough...Bit of a way for you to travel Jay

I spoke to him today and he is going to come on this forum...He said he has a few friends who can also do it.One is based in the midlands so maybe he could do it for you.

hi

i'm Ray (aka aRd) who did Rob_watti cluster swap and enabled Paulie miles to empty, lid pointers and autowindows.

as Paul has said I'm based in North East, Teesside area and work in Newcastle. I do travel to London.

I don't mind enabling miles to empty, lid pointers and autowindows at one of the meets or shows. I try to do the main shows during the year. The other option is you can post me the cluster I can do the modification, just need vagcom to clear any faults.

A little bit about me I've been in to dubs for over 10 years. I've owned a MK4 Golf for 7 years. I know them quite well. I've help Rob on the electonic side.

What about doing the FIS cluster modification? Could be post the cluster to you for that also or would it need to be connected to the car?

I'm going to do local show Harewood House, maybe International and Edition38,

unless you can tell me any dates/location of your meets I could attend to do a few R32's

What about GTi festival on April 13th or the following Sun at Volkspeed, Tatton Park event in August also. Both events in the events section mate. I might be up your way soon for touring cars at croft if you ever drop in there?
