This may have been covered but I can't find anything similar.

Occasionally my engine goes to start but sort of coughs and splutters and stops again. This can happen a number of times and then eventually it runs. First time it did it the fuel light was on so I assumed I had run it too low. Lately though there were no issues with fuel level. Today it did it and I locked and unlocked the car again and it started first time. I'm wondering if it could be an immobiliser fault.

Has anyone come across this type of fault before?

Does the fuel pump prime each time you open the driver's door? Also, when was the fuel filter last changed?

Yes the pump runs fine each time I open the door. I think the fuel filter is due a change tbh. Major service is due now.

Fuel Filter is a cheap and easy thing to replace so I'd get that done and see if it cures the issue. They don't always change them when they do a major service so you might have to ask for it to be done.
