Folks,

How much should i be paying for this ?

Car has covered 8300 miles.

MK5 R32, with DSG.

Spark plugs were replaced on 5800 miles.

What year is it? And what mileage was last service done?

Have you ever had your dsg box oil changed or your haldex done or brake fluid?

As you do such a low mileage all your servicing really needs to be time dependent.

Engine Oil and Filter - at least every 12 months
Pollen Filter - at least every 2 years
Air Filter - at least every 4 years (VW say 60k / 6 years but that is too long, IMO, for such a cheap to replace part)
Plugs - at least every 4 years
Brake Fluid - at least every 2 years
DSG Oil and Filter - if it was my car I would do this at least every 4 years, although VW only give a mileage of 40k miles.
Haldex Oil and Filter - if it was my car I would do this at least every 4 years, although VW only give a mileage of 40k miles.

You have to look back and see when each was last done and service based on that.

Apologies, it's 2007, and the last service was on 5800 miles; 2011.

If it was my car I would do everything on the list I've given apart from the plugs.

You would be looking at around £500 - £550 at a dealer. Indy would be cheaper.

If you decide not to do DSG and Haldex you are looking at £250 - £300

You need to drive it more

Depends on which part of the country you are in and the corresponding labour rates.

If you're getting a lot of work done there is the chance to negotiate.

8000 miles in just over 100 days in a year. Jesus, that's a lot of weekend driving. I don't think the R32 will be back out until early May. My weekends are normally taken up by Manchester United / football.

Bear in mind that you need the correct VW diagnostics to do a DSG service properly.

Your local bloke might not have that.

I'm 99% sure he said they had the latest VAG Diagnostics. I will email him mate.

I do occasionally drive after work though some days to and from football etc, and do go up north a few times a year. (to see LFC

) alton towers, etc!! Your car is such a low mileage though! i have just hit 53k!

Liverpool ? I wouldn't trust my R32 in Merseyside. Yeah, it is, quite fortunate really.

So mines due a service soon at 72000. I'd like to get the dsg done and the haldex on top of the other usual bits for peace of mind really... I'm in Bedfordshire, where would you take it? A vw garage? I've heard TTS roadsport are quite good???
