Hi all.

Just got back from the MoT and I'm in need of a rear spring. I'd replaced one only last week, but the tiniest bit of the pig tail is missing off the other one, hence no pass

Would be looking to get one sorted and posted ASAP as I'd like to he it fitted this weekend if possible for the retest on Monday AM.

If anyone out there can help it'd be hugly appreciated.

Ta

I'd go aftermarket H&R dude. The factory ones are made from candy it seems.
Ironically the standard springs on the MK4 R32 are manufactured by H&R and branded as VW Motorsport:)

That's a fair point. They must have been having an off week when they made the VW batch lol.
The R32 ones must have been made on a Friday afternoon when there is a 2 for 1 in the pub

To be fair it's not just R32 springs that are prone to snapping, it's all VW springs from that era.

Already replaced 2 front springs on my Dad's 2004 Polo which had done less than 20k miles at the time.

I've heard of plenty of peoples experiences with these springs being 'delicate', but I've done 90k on the original set up on a 53 plate car, and its only the lower pigtails that have corroded off due to it standing still for 2 years. Maybe i've got just lucky with the setup i've had ?!?!

Im only trying to source a used original one as once she's up and running again, i plan to be going for a full upgrade, just not yet.

Thanks for your responses.

I have my old springs sitting in the garage buddy,

They dont look pretty, surface rust and paint flake!? Dont know if they are any good to you?

I have a receipt of the rears being changed in 2010 so they aren't the factory ones, yet they are not brand new either, PM if they of any use to you, i was going to sand blast the and get them powder coated blue again and use them as spares or sell cheap as a full set .....

Let me know
