Falkland's most daring raid.

This is a repeat of the story of how during the Falkland's War they managed to send a couple of Vulcan bombers from the UK along with a fleet of refueling aircraft to bomb the runway at Port Stanley. It was actually more of a warning to the argies that if need be we could bomb Argentna mainland

It's a facsinating and truly amazing story and worth watching, if you haven't seen it before.

I was talking to my Dad today about the Falklands, he says its all flared up because that bitch wants to stay in power and the oil discovered there would help they're incredibly poor nation lol

I only noticed it was on, hence the lack of warning.

It certainly did keep her in power as she was heading to be out on her ear. As with most colonies they have some sort of strategic significance, and Falklands is no exception due to the oil reserves and gateway to Antarctica. Also, if we hadn't done anything we would have been seen as a pushover.

There are those who say world economics are about making the rich richer and keeping the poor in their place. I am now coming around to this train of thought.

Strategic islands were very important in those days. In fact even nowadays owning land/islands across the globe is of great benefit. Gibraltar and the BIOT are very important even today.

Shame that people tie the hatred they had with Maggie to this war.

The Falklands was invaded by Argentina, what other option did we have other than defend against this oppression.

Shame the haters of Maggie didn't have the minerals to stand up and fight alongside their fellow countryman. As those that fought during that conflict left behind a legacy that makes everyone of us proud to be British!

I still can't understand the logic. I know people hated her but to say she invaded Argentina is stupid. They attacked us...

Very little diplomatic effort made for my liking. All pointed to an excuse to go and make a statement of force for me.
