Evening all.

Im going to be collecting my mk5 R32 Golf on June 1st, so i thought id sign up to the best R32 forum i could, and i chose this one. Im still yet to sort out my profile and signature and all that but i thought id post up and ask a few questions, then sort that out later.
Firstly my R32 is going to need two new tyres very shortly after i buy it as they are wearing on the inner edge, (possible tracking) and im wondering what tyres are best for R32's? Im looking at either Pirelli P Zero's or Dunlop Sportmaxx RT's, what do people think are best? Could be talked into RE050A's.

Im looking to chip it aswell. The best chip that ive found so far is with AMD, gives the most power and torque gains, but has anyone had any experience with AMD chips, what are they like, are there any better chips etc?
Now the R32 im buying is a '56 plate with 36500 on the clock and i really want to know everything i can about these cars, so the more info i can get about them the better for me.

Hope to be reading some comments and recommendations soon, when i buy the car ill be putting some pictures up.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

R32s tend to wear the inner edges of the front tyres, it's down to the relatively aggressive camber on standard settings. Worth getting a 4 wheel alignment done though.

Tyres are such a personal thing but I was a fan of Goodyear F1s on my MK5 R32. I currently use P Zeros on my Scirocco and can't fault them either.

Be aware that your car will he due a major service at 40k which includes plugs and Haldex oil and filter, if they have not already been done.

Welcome to the forum buddy
Few things to check is if its had the haldex service, and other services on time
Check the front wings for rust, they can be sorted for free from vw and to see if its had the coil pack recall

Would not have had haldex service yet as its 40k on the mk 5 unlike the mk 4 which is every 20k

Anyway, welcome mate and get pics up soon, where you based

The other thing is these cars are mapped through the OBD port so not "chipped" like in the old days when a physical ROM was, replaced

Mapping a N/ A car gives modest power gains, typically 15-20bhp. As to who to get the kap from, do a search it has been discussed on the forum many times. The most popular companies are R Tech, AMD, Revo and Custom Code.

You only have to chip a car these days if you cant get round the protection on it. Most cars are simply remapped via the ODBC port.
Lots of good remaps out there thesedays and I doubt there is much diffrence between the gains accieved by them. Despite advertising claims.

Welcome to the OC.

I had RE050A's on my Rocco R not a bad tyre good grip etc, they didn't last too well though. (possible due to fwd and 270 ponnies)

Thanks for all the feed back and the welcomes!

I know about the Haldex service at 40k. It was also recalled in nov '12 to have all six coil packs replaced.

Im torn between the RE050A's and the P Zero's now after talking to people. Im a MASSIVE fan of the Toyo Proxes T1-R's but i cant find them in the 225/40 R18 size! Ive got Goodyear Eff. Grips on my car at the moment and i wasnt very impressed comparing them with the Proxes'.

Im also looking at performance air intake systems and my mate told me about the Gruppe M system, but then i saw the £1079 price tag and thought again! Also what are the resonated Miltek systems like for noise as im fed up with my old cars noise on the motorway ha! If its not too bad then i will probably do the Miltek and Chipping combo on AmD.
