Hi guys, new to the forum. Never usually do the whole forum posting- just usually lurk in the back grounds

I have owned a string of VWs and audis- nearly all modified one way or another. But after recently selling my 04 plate A3 (full respray, interior, smooth engine bay) I decided it was time to grow up a little bit and wanted a car that wasn't just for show, something I could enjoy driving and most of all not have a heart attack every time I left in a car park!

So three weeks ago i picked up a 56 plate black mk5 R32. Full leather, DSG, 10 speaker option, cruise control etc it had 74000 on the clock (little higher then what I wanted) but none the less it had a full VW service history so I was sold. It was a little rough around the edges but that didn't put me off as half the fun is fixing and putting things right? Or maybe that's just me.

I will probably upload pics and maybe even start a build thread shortly, but just thought I would say Hi first

Thanks for reading

thanks guys, already feel welcome
I will definitely get some pics up tomorrow if i have a minute, no mods as of yet apart from my private plate but I'm planning on keeping things very simple and OEM with this car. A decent coilover set up and probably a res miltek will be the extent of the modifications and probably some kind of re map to suit?

love to hear peoples opinions on the exhaust options and re maps, especially with the dsg etc.

Cheers

haha thanks Alex, this has always been my downfall!

only a small update and not an ideal one- only done this twice, but the car has stalled in 1st gear and felt very sluggish.

this happened two days ago and as a result the engine management light came on.

however drove the car all day yesterday (good 100 miles or so) and to work this morning and again all fine. just went out on my lunch break and the light has now turned off and all is well?

something to worry about? weirdly i was hoping it would stay on until saturday as its going to VW for a new drivers seat loom and they could put their vag com on it.

did read something about MAF sensors going wrong?

All is well it seems so I think it's time to start making a few adjustments

First mod a decent coilover set up. Not looking to go silly low as I have been there too many times before. This car is for driving so was either thinking kw or h&r? Both I know I can't go wrong but I want as near stock levels of comfort as possible.

Then onto the biggie- exhaust? Brand again not a 100 percent then the bigger debate of res or non res. heard so many bad reviews about the non res being to drony on mk5? But that said I don't want to buy something that sounds pretty much like stock.

Thoughts?

thanks guys Wez

I was thinking of going for the Miltek as they sound great and don't break the bank. but res or non res? as the res version doesn't really seem much louder then stock but apparently the non res is really boomy on motorways and i know my misses will not be best pleased if that's the case when driving down to France haha
