So this happened yesterday.....A friend I work with has a 2012 Golf R 2.0T Stage 2+ APR tune. All "Forged" performance parts & Brake system. I just put a stage 4 clutch in it 2 weeks ago. Mis-shifted from 2 to 1 @ 6500RPMs instead of 2 to 3. Didn't end well. Fortunately it didn't throw the rods out and it's not making too much noise. Bent all the valves in #4 from what I can tell right now. Got it on the trailor to take it to my shop and tear it down.

Lol. That it would have. We took the engine apart yesterday and inspected it. Has bent intake valves on cyl 1 & 4. Spit out the rockers on the bent valves. Can you say "valve float"? No damage anywhere else though. The balancing shaft assembly is fine and there was no scoring or hammering on any of the rod bearings. No bent rods. No broken rings gaps on the pistons either. He got majorly lucky. I attribute the engine holding together to the Royal Purple oil. I run it exclusively in my bikes and performance engines. If he hadn't been running it I believe the rods would've come out. The head bolts however were stretched out, no doubt from the high amounts of boost he's running. We will be putting the head back with an ARP stud kit as well as ARP rod bolts. Gonna rework the head with new valves and stiffer valve springs.
