Project V6 TBD; Mk5 Blue R32 ???

Hi all im Carrinne, Matts partner (nochav) but he is!!
About a year ago,ish (feb 2011) after my partners brother made his 3 yearly visit with his latest set of wheels (volvo C30 T14!!!), I was informed that the time had come for us to bring forward our plans to once again own a special hot hatch.
After lifelong connections with VW, motorsport and being true petrolheads the search began......
For what in our opinion the best hot hatch, the golf.....with the best engine a V6.

Originally we planned Mk4 as it looks more aggressive reminding us of our youth beginning of our membership to the VW family and the love of the mk1..( beetles and karmann ghia for me aswell)

He had allready made up his mind that the Mk5 has many excellent points and the aesthetic disasters could be changed. Dont ever start him on the chrome grill and all the elderly passat drivers flashing and waving at him while the passenger asks "How come your so popular with the OAP's?"!!

Unfortunately we found the perfect example in only a couple of days 20 miles from home!
57 plate Dpb, manual, 3 door, recaros, fully loaded with 90% of optional extras, one lady owner (non smoking company director), 22,000 miles, full VW history.

THIS IS WHERE THE ARGUMENTS BEGAN!!!

After a years ownership the realisation has hit me , and what i put down to crazy talk has become reality!
In the first year i found myself extremely happy whizzing about in my new car, as i thought Matt was really, within the first 6 months the car had allready been transformed with the following upgrades: Milltek non Res, Evoms induction, Remap, KW coilovers, VF Engine & gb mounts and quickshift. Stereo upgrade, lots of dynamat as the motorway drone became too much for me ( anyone who knows Matt will agree). Weve been driving 4x4's and Lwb Vans for the past 5 years building our businesses and completing our home. I found we were going out more which was also great, long may this continue.....

Feb 2012 my car was SORN, " Look on the brightside he said think of the money were saving with no Tax or fuel to find for her"
Slamming the door behind me i grabbed the keys muttering under my breath f*** u ! Then I realised I couldnt even go for a drive to let off steam! Going back in the kitchen i armed myself with a plate, luckily it missed him! "So all these plans are going to be done for free ?" I screamed at him.

So this is my personal account from the other halfs point of view.....
The ride starts here!!

Now we are nearly up to date. It has taken me this long to forgive him!
Months of having to be home at certain times to sign for various presents for my car ,travelling the length of the country meeting new friends, and being convinced we dont need a holiday...........
Its a holiday for me just knowing hes working 18 hours a day 7 days a week to keep these presents coming!!

So this is where we are at! Im left writing this thread which the purpose being to
learn and meet new friends and share my experience with you!

Good luck with the build. Once it gets a hold of you/him it's like a bug. Can't wait to see the pics. Have any questions of pulling it apart ????

Hello Craig, I tend to agree with you, it WAS a nice looking R and i was very happy with her. Lowered on coilovers approx 50mm. Sorry about the confusion for my first post but im trying to start at the beginning and the build started in March really. Theres no backend and no front end or parts in the middle, just be patient with me i'll reveal all bit by bit

Haha. Oh well that'll make the changes easier, but will be a lotta fun to put back together. I have taken pictures of everything. And even tho it's only the engine that's come out....there's a lotta pipes/wires to put back!
Your right about the hours... I'm at the garage for 9 then the next thing I know it's 5!
Gets some snaps up soon!

Chris
Well this sound's very Intresting and I'm keen to see these "Changes"

I'll be keepiong a close eye on this, Good luck....
Hi again, im back again after some hectic weeks. After reading through it again its clear that ive made it unclear what exactly is happening with the car. I said previously im up to date but only as far as introducing myself. We have some big plans which are all in the process and fingers crossed were hoping the car will be complete by Xmas / April. No rush!!!
Im going to try and come on here more often to be able to catch up to where were at, bit at a time. The car is at the Bodyshop/ Custom Metal workers at present being cut, grinded and hopefully welded back together before we collect ready to deliver her and have the engine removed in a couple/ few weeks, MORE on this later. Id like to do a piece on each upgrade as not to miss out anything or anybody. So this should be the thread starting really truly!

1st upgrade to choose, WHEELS. Hope you like them, personally i couldnt see what was wrong with the original ones, but he said these new ones would make it easier to park!

I'm really Intrested to know what Is happening....Can we have any hint's..?
Morning Carrinne , Matt here just read it all properly now for 1st time, made me chuckle and i know your still getting in the swing. Without her the "thread" wouldnt happen so :give_rose:from all involved along the way, Good or Bad she'll mention you. Also the R32 Oc where i found info and feel were putting back to the forum.JUST Be patient with her and Carrinne be gentle with them and enjoy or ignore , too making new friends and experiences and no doubt a few more enemys "Hey C"......

Also ive let her do it as shes the brainier one, but mainly its a honest account no BS and ill also find out what she really thinks of it myself so all female members feel free too gossip/ question her and ill just keep an eye from the distance helping with pics and info

I'll continue working and you all enjoy spending time with my gf Carrinne and also hopefully some of what were doing, shes all secretive at present as not all plans are 100% yet as they may change especialy the engine , im a builder and the TV and RADIO telling everyone "paying by cash is immorral" hasnt helped either hey C, it will make sense as she catches up!

Matt ps, sorry if mistakessee you soon One thing this aint about is building a "THREAD" car which has put me off this, Enjoy or NOT

Thanks to those who replied to us and i will keep in contact with mates via pm but please feel free to just browse and opinionate with her............
