Got to start thinking about FI there's diesels out there that make a mockery of the R32

the more interesting can be making a mockery of many Ferrari's and similar stuff after putting some serious power on our Golfs ;-)
going 300+ kph is really ... surprising ( in less than 2miles of course)

that will be the m550 monster of a car more torque than the m5

Yeah they have the torque but diesels do not have the gorgeous v6 R noise, and you can't replicate that!

I had a Merc E320CDI tailing me once. We got to a bend and went round it at a silly speed and he ended up on the other side of the road. If there'd been anything coming the other way there would've been a hell of a mess...

It was fast, but it didn't handle too well!

R32's are old now though so can't keep up with new desil motors, there is a lot of cars out there that will show an R a clean pair is heels

Yea R32's aren't the quickest but they're quicker than 95% maybe 99% of other cars on the road. For what I paid I could have bought an Evo 8 FQ 400 (modified to 500bhp) and still hand a few £k change. Fact is I didn't buy the R32 for speed, it's a fast car but speed was last on the list of things I wanted (V6, AWD, DSG, Heated Leather Seats, Touch Screen Sat Nav/DVD, Comfort, Convenience, Space, General Luxury and Styling all came above Speed. Almost all of the above could have been sacrificed for a really fast car but I didn't want that.

Going FI would be amazing but putting £10k into a car isn't something I want to do and we all know that once you've put in £10k you may as well go the whole nine yards and make it £20k

You are right though, there are some cars out there that'll show the R32 what speed is

Ain't a Merc diesel, though. Forgot to add that a few weeks later I ended up behind the same E320CDI on the same bit of road and kept up quite easily. He went around that same bend a bit slower than I did!

It's the torque output of these new diesels they much more drivable on road anyway very puchy low down torque no need for massive bhp

my parents have got an Audi a1 I think it's only got about 100 bhp but in gear grunt is pukka it does nearly 75 mpg and its free road tax aswell

Sorry but a standard R32 is slow and heavy compared to most modern cars. An R32 sounds great but is nothing special when it comes to acceleration or speed these days.

If you counted 100 cars you passed in day to day traffic I bet you there'd be less than 5 that were quicker to 60 than an R32

So true! Bhp is just pub bragging rights! Bhp sells a car, torque wins a race! I got made to look a fool once by a gt tdi golf in my old 300bhp vxr!
