R tech map

Well yesterday i left home at 6:30 to travel up to r tech leicester for some of Nicks magic that everyone goes on about. My car never had the 6463 update from volkswagen either so was quite looking forward to the difference. 2 hours later Nick said jump in lets go for a drive and all i could say is WOW!!!! The power now is so smooth and progressive the overly keen accelerator pedal has now gone. We head back and nick showed me the graphs and the difference to VW's mapping is incredible. I had a BMC cold air induction and a custom made longlife exhaust with a lucifer de cat and the figures are quite impressive. It was 238 bhp before and then run 261 which is pretty good i thought but the torque was even more impressive 227-267 which is 30 more. Really really happy with that and would recommend anyone to go there in a instant. Also mpg went from 31 cruising up there to 35 on the way back. If you do go speak to Nick he's the man.

Cheers guys.

Zig I can't believe you made that power with just the cone filter and a de-catted standard exhaust system, that's very impressive! Even more tempted to go down for a 3rd time now.

There obviously can't be much advantage of going for a milltek cat-back over a stock system performance wise?
An aftermarket cat-back system is a requirement for stage 1 maps

Cool, so potentially a wee bit more to be had on Zig's then.

I need to go for a spin in an R with a de-cat and resonated milltek system before the debit card comes out.
Yeah nick said decating the the R is the most effective way to relese power, got a cat back fitted now as well. Can't fault r-tech!!

Stage 1 requires

Panel filter/Induction kit
Cat back

Stage 2 requires
Panel Filter/Induction kit
Cat back
De-Cat

Obviously if the cars recently serviced and no fault codes crop up it will all aid in better results

Impressive gains, but this R-Tech bloke saying the BMC is holding the power back is, to put it politely, is misleading.

Was this comment followed by: "Try one of our induction kits" by any chance?

If your existing induction kit was holding the engine back, it wouldn't have made 261hp, that's for sure!

Theres a sales pitch in there somewhere!

Yup! I could understand it with the stock airbox and pea-shooter cold feed pipe, but you won't see a gain over a BMC!
Not once did he try sell me his own CAI. Nick is not like that at all. He said even the original box would be better than a BMC!

Not gonna argue with that one mate

I know on the 1.8T's the BMC's are restrictive, don't know enough about the 3.2's to comment.
Which cat-back did you go for Zig?
Just a battered 10 year old millie!!! Does the job though and with some new gt tips no one will ever know !!

Is it res or non-res? From what I've read most folk go for non-res with a de-cat but I know that would be too loud for me.
I went for res mate.. And it's just right for me
G
Awesome, that's what I wanted to hear. Do you have any videos of it?

Does it boom or drone at any speeds?
You get a bit of a boom at 40 in some gears and it can be loud under load at about 75ish but other than that I rekon it's quieter than the stock system unless you open the taps then it sounds ace
Non res all day. Mine isn't loud but gives you the nice v6 growl.
Also I can't believe that the bmc is restrictive at all. It's just a cotton filter with a shrowd around it to stop heat soak

Are you de-catted as well though?
He reckons that BMC look the part with the carbon fibre affect but inside there shocking.
I'll pit a vido up later but it's only gonna be crappy I phone one..
