Tried doing a search for the Passat R36 alloy footrest part number, and didnt get any real luck. Does anyone know the VW part reference?

I dont use ETKA for silly trim bits or that just had a quick look and i cant find it on ETKA. Not where you would expect anyway!

If I go into my local VW dealer tomorrow, will that part number be the one?

I am assuming it will be a straight fit into the mkV, as I have seen it done a number of times?

Yeah thats it, quote the number without the 4j4 aswell if they are unsure. You see the eBay link? Cheaper there
