Rang VW today to see if there were any options for connecting my phone to the cradle and steering wheel call button but they said unless I had an old Nokia handset or so then there is no options. How useless is that when the mk5 isn't THAT old.

Bin the cradle, get the OEM Bluetooth module and the fis link kit off ebay, then you can use all the steering wheel functions along with your MFD /RNS if you have one?!.... you can also stream music from your phone directly or via say spotify back through your speakers

What kit is it exactly in eBay and is it easily fitted (the Bluetooth?

Doesn't the cradle leave a hole in dash too? Just would like to be able to use the steering wheel to answer.
Also would like to put a aux in too.

This one pal....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Bluetooth-RNS-510-RCD-510-9W7-9WZ-RED-MFD-COMPATIBLE-FIS-LINK-Interface-/321120212965?pt=Other_Vehicle_Parts&hash=item4ac44197e5

then either get N13KKF from here (spelling?!) to supply the bluetooth module or just buy both parts from the company that supplies the link kit from here...

price works out about the same either way....Just a touch under £300

In terms of connecting its easy....ive trail fit it to see, its the running of the cables thats hard

If you fancy a stab at it theres guide here (think its a mk6?! but the principal is the same):

As for any holes in the dash it depends how its been mounted, the cable should protrude between your facia but the actual cradle may have been screwed in, in which case your stuck with the holes
