Hi all,

I have noticed a rattle from the rear passenger side of my R, did a bit of poking about and found that the brake disc shield is loose and causing the rattle.

Can these be replaced without removing the hub?? Don't really want to get new bearings just to replace the shields.

Does anyone know the part number for the splash shields also??

Sorry if this sounds daft, but have you tired tightening the bolts that hold it on? There are 3 in total. With a small spanner you can get at them, I've just removed the guard with upgrading to 300mm discs on the rear so had to cut these bolts as like you say the hub gets in the way!

I took the wheel off earlier and discovered the inner rear brake pad had snapped and a chunk of it was sitting between the disc and shield!!!

Looks like another expense!!!! Arghhhhhh!!!

Ouch! What pads were they? I had yellow stuff rears that completely fell apart!

Yellowstuff!!! Absolutely wouldn't use anything EBC again!!! Awful!!

I've been using Yellow stuff's now for a few years on my R32. OEM discs, yellow stuff pads. No problems whatsoever!

After it happened, I did a search on the net and found a few stories like this. Guess it was just a poor manufactured batch

Is it possible to remove the old screws and fit larger washers to retain shield?
