Picked my car up friday, got it for a very good price as the rear tyres need replacing and it's due a service (DSG and spark plugs oddly already done (VW stamped and confirmed), but needs haldex/brake fluid etc).

Giving someone a lift this morning and I drove past an accident, ended up with screws in the front N/S tyre which gave me a pretty quick puncture. Annoyingly they were brand new good year eagle F1s on the front, and as it's a sunday the only place I could get to was kwik fit. Big mistake.

They had an offer on Goodyear tyres, so I thought I may as well replace the rear two at the same time for 25% off and have a full new matching set. Waited an hour while they were doing it and they tell me a wheel nut has cross threaded and they don't have any there, and they can't let me drive off with only 4 nuts on one wheel.

So I have to go and find a parts shop and eventually come back with a set of nuts, they damage one of them trying to put them on and tell me i'll have to get a new wheel hub. Pissed off and £472 lighter (3x tyres and wheel alignment/balancing) I get home and decide to clean it, go to fill up the washer fluid and the fecking bonnet wont open!

Another guy came in with a Mk5 with his bonnet catch/lever broken and not opening, and mine was fine on Friday when I picked it up.. hmmmm!

To cheer myself up here's some pics of it looking clean before I have the bonnet fixed, new wheel hub and find how much VW want for the service items tomorrow

A lovely looking example mate,

Iam absolutely gutted for you, a real trip of bad luck and rubbish mechanics if they can be called mechanics

If I won the lottery I'd do everything myself by buying all the kit and having a massive garage to work on it and letting the r32oc peeps use as well

I would go back and say something about the bonnet thou as you have just bought the car

Had this a few times with my bonnet catch, make sure the inside lever is pushed fully back home and try again. Usually worked.

I would be going back to kwick fit with all the receipts for the stuff you've had to replace due to there fitters and demand reimbursing. If the manager won't entertain it go straight to head office.
A friend of mine got my CV boots replaced for an MOT by kwick fit whilst I was out of the country, it passed the MOT but 400 miles after I got back and drove it I had to replace both CV boots and front wheel bearings. Absolute joke and I don't know how they are still in business!
Sorry to hear your bad luck but hopefully that'll be the end of it.

Sorry to hear this. I too have suffered from this in the past and if I am ever in any tyre fitting place I don't let them use an air gun to tighten the bolts. You do get the odd good guy who will start the thread with their fingers but the majority just put the bolt in the gun and push it in in the hope it doesn't cross thread.

Congrats on your new purchase. The S3 idea didn't last long:)

nope
I was driving with an S3 earlier on going to the shops in the spec I wanted (sprint blue, recaros etc) and was SO glad I didn't get one.

Going to spend the extra pennies I would have put on a mint S3 on making this perfect

had my windows tinted monday after I had the bonnet cable/latch replaced (£££) and the wheel hub tapped out, back end is covered in dust but I really think it improves the look of the car!

plus i've ordered a catback milltek non-res and as soon as it's delivered he'll fit it for me
bit happier than i was last week lol
