as above, looking increasingly likely ive been scammed, on a foolish impulse i paid for goods direct to a sellers bank account. i havent recieved the goods, now im getting fobbed off being told it was lost by the courier and hes trying to claim the money from them. tried to email last night and the email bounced back to me, so if ive not heard anything by fiday i want to take action, where do i stand? all i have is a name email address and bank account number.....

Not a member on here but still im not going to name and shame yet.....

This is $$$ we are talking about here.

And please lads, i know ive been stupid paying direct into his account and im beating myslef up enough about it already so go easy on me!!

Contact your bank ASAP and see if you can get the payment reversed. Unlikely, but certainly worth a try.

Without finding out their address not really much you can do legally or illegally.

Hi Lee it has happens to me before but I used Pay Pal and as I used eBay US I was not covered, and lost 276 quid on a head unit.

It's horrible and you feel like a complete dick,

The only thing I can suggest is contact your bank as you may have cover for them to chase the bastards

Report it to the police as well dude, it is a fraudulent act so traces can be done using bank account details that you have. Other checks such as IP addresses can be used to trace the source. The difficulty I have encountered is that they are usually Western Union accounts which are untraceable or international scams that source from Nigeria or the likes. Report it anyway though and see what they say.

yeah i feel like a complete douche!! and its money that would come in really handy at the moment......
Im sure with a little digging i could find his address as he frequents vw forums..... just hope it doesn come to that.

I've been lucky and never had any trouble paying into and receiving money into banks for goods. Being doing it that way for years because I plum refuse to have anything to do with those utter chunts PayPal. Them and ebay are no good at protecting you against scams either as they'll always find a way to not pay your money back.

I think with large amounts, extra caution is required, but you should be able to pop into your bank, explain the situation and they can trace the seller via that bank acc number. The email he used was probably a temporary one that's since been ditched. Was it a gmail or other webmail account?

I've had this happen on another forum for 700quid if it makes you feel any better, seller had sold loads of stuff no problem but then started ripping people off total arse.

Oh and try googling him/his user account names you would be surprised by how much info digital these people leave around. I found my guy but never got the money as I wasn't going to another EU country to pick a fight!

Not much you can do, i was scammed with western union for an iPad from china, and also from direct bank transfer when i was supposed to be paying for some r32 seats for my replica i had years ago, i let the china one go, but the r32 seats, i got the police involved, they arrested him and he now has a criminal record, i wasnt the only one.... needless to say i didnt get my money back, but at least i know he got nicked

The lads called T Phelan, from merseyside, been two months now waiting for an r line rear bumper. Paid him £410 cash. His mail address is wheelswheelswheels. His pal who is/was a member on here put me into him selling this. His user name was/is wheelygood. He has/had an account on eBay and feedback was mixed.

If anyone can help me out inbox me please.

heard nothing back then i got an email of this "wheelygood" person saying that his friend has some for sale

He told me to email him on wheelswheelswheels........

So thinking i might get some KW coilovers at a good price i messaged him. When i asked how many miles the coilovers had covered and what varient they were he couldnt tell me.

I then told him that i wouldnt be buying due to not knowing enough about them so he sent me a msg back that simply said............. "lol"

Thought it was suspicious at the time, but never thought no more.
