I've just returned from an *ahem* 'spirited' drive along a fairly bumpy country road. After passing over one lumpy bit of road, as the suspension was compressing, there was a very brief scuffing sound, as if the nearside front wheel had caught the liner of the wheelarch. Has anyone else come across this? Not sure whether its a dodgy shock, bump stop, strut (!!) or just the result of dropping a performance model on 18s onto suspension designed for 16s.

I have a standard MKV by the way.

Just sounds like as you explained the tyre was rubbing against the arch, which is probably not a fault in anything more just the conditions of the road etc. Bt if it happens again i would get it checked out just to be on the safe/sure side.
