Going into the dealers tomorrow to discuss the mk7 GTD for the wife.
Really like the carbon grey they did on the mk6 (pic attached)
Its not available on the mk7, but it is for germany. Has anyone ever done a special colour order on a new build with VW? i know audi do it. The fact they will spray the exact same car for the german market in it surely they can do it for the uk.

My guess would be that there's no reason they cant, if you're ordering it from new from the factory. But they may slap a premium on it or not offer a single penny in the way of a discount. And it would be a long wait!

A right hand drive on the assembly line for LHD. may cause a few problems - but worth a try.

If that's the same car as I remember, then the original owner ordered it somewhere in Europe in RHD, rather than UK dealer
Not heard that you can special order colours at VW within the UK.

Let us know how you get on - I reckon you should go for a really unique colour if you can do

I wouldn't expect them to agree to this, but it's worth an ask.
The dealer would have to ask VWUK who might simply say no, sorry. For them to organise 1 car outside of their ordering spec is more hassle than its worth (for them) and if they do it for 1 and word gets around soon they will be inundated with requests which I think they want to avoid as they would then run into issues with HQ.
If they do agree expect the delivery time to be greatly increased.
It sounds easy in practise, but the work required to do this on an operational level is quite big.

If you know the dealer fairly well they'll probably go to the effort to sort it out for you. I looked into it when I ordered our Mk6R. I think it was £1700+ for the special order colour and its not one they can order through the normal system, its an email/fax to head office to get it accepted as a special order.

Well went in friday, they said its not something they would consider even asking but we were that keen then know that peolple have gone to wolfsburg and ordered thier rhd there "with extras" then gone back to collect it. So its not gonna happen. test drove the 150gt and spec'd what we wanted but the numbers didnt quite come in at what we were happy with, £55 a month over what was our limit. tried haggling but they wouldnt even move £1. have left it for the weekend and do some more sums, as we are expecting our first child in Aug and trying to move house. Numbers didnt come up again either
