Hey guys...

Just looking to find out who thinks what coilovers are best.

Only had my Mk5 R32 since last week but first mods will be better airflow and better handling, miltech will be getting done in a few weeks.

As for coilovers what's everyone's opinion?

Also thinking about lowering 40mm, how do you find the setup with handling, speed bumps etc ?

Hi Maddy, Another Scottish girl with an R, I'm gonna move there!

I've tried a few coilovers (on my Mk4 albeit), Without doubt if you can afford it go for the Bilstein B14's (haggle a deal). They are not crashy, they are smoother than KW's and feel very controlled. Any coilover will punish you on a fast driven bump, but on a controlled drive the B14s are great.

Check the drop offered by the various options. The B14s don't go mega low, but do settle further down after a few weeks.

Someone with a MK5 could chime in with info on drop clearance, but in my opinion you wont have issues at 40mm. I've seen a lot lower.

That's because Bilstein take a more measured approach and know only too well that slamming a car totally and utterly borks the handling.
