tyre life expectency

How long do should we expect our tyres to last.
Mine is an every day car, approx 10k/year, on eagle f1's but (and heres the catch) my wife drives it most.
Put new rubber on last june, almost bald already.
Is this normal?
At another £460 a year I'm finding it very hard to justify owning my baby.

Depends on how you drive,

I've managed to get 22,000 out of a set of F1's before, and also managed to get 12,000 out of another set.

It totally totally depends on the driving style my friend.
She does drive like a feckin loony sometimes.
Well since I upgraded the suspension (KWs, roll bars, haldex), I've got 12,000 miles out of these tyres, I think its because I'm driving the car like a lunatic now on these country roads where I live
Think I got about 12 K from my set (As the tyres looked good when I brought my R in September 2007)
Dont know when the tyres were fitted but I think Goodyear might be a softer tyre but unsure.
Get Michelin Pilot SP's mate! Used them on all my previous cars and I get lots of mileage out of them.

You must be joking. I'm not sure what kind of suspension set up you have but here's how mine is working out so far:

Took delivery of the car with 19k miles on. The tyres were the original Conti Contact Sport 2's with around 4mm tread but as the front two had been run for some time patially deflated and had uneven wear, I replaced them all with Pilot Sport PS2's. 10k miles later and I have 6mm all around.

The other MK5 has exactly the same tyre size on, but had Pilot Exalto's fitted from new. As this is FWD only (and mapped to just over 200 PS) the front's wear out first. The fronts have 3.4mm and the backs 6mm and that's at a couple of hundred miles off 30k.

If I were you, i'd get the alignment checked out because that's some serious tyre wear there. I'd also consider buying a slightly more expensive, harder compound tyre as Imster suggests.
