So I have18x 8J wheels ET30 and wanted to go 235/35 or 40/18 instead of 225/40/18
My question is can I run 235/40 or 35/18 up front with 225/40/18 at rear as I can't stretch this month to buying 4 tyres.
Does it affect the haldex?
Any help appreciated.

235/40 vs 225/40 is 4mm (larger) difference in rolling radius
235/35 vs 225/40 is 7.75mm (smaller) difference in rolling radius.

The normal difference between a new tyre and a legal worn tyre is 6.4mm, so it's very unlikely you will cause any damage to the Haldex with any of your proposals, although, the lesser the difference, the better.

I've never seen a definitive figure quoted.for what the limits are for the Haldex.

i was looking at doing the same and i was advised to go with the same wall thickness all the way round being it quattro.

so I run 215-35-18 8.5J fronts and 225-35-18 on a 9.5J on the rear

Although the tyres the same profile the wall dimensions are different due to the different widths, although the extra stretch on the rear will bring them closer together.

215/35 is 75.25mm and 225/35 is 78.75mm.

With the Haldex set up, the R32 is not permanent 4WD so this is not as critical as on a Torsen 4WD car like the larger Audis, Subarus and Evos, which have permanent 4WD.

Adaptors change the PCD 'bolt pattern.

You will struggle to get them on bud
