My warranty runs out next month. I've got some quotes for new warranty. VW quoted £610 for year. Others quoted £450 upwards. Both these depend on me getting car serviced at VAT registered garage. This works out at £700 plus for one years warranty/next service. Is it worth it? I've always serviced own cars in past once they were over 3 years old. If I do it myself, I know it's getting done right. Just grudge paying someone hundreds to change oil! I' m not bothered about stamp in book. After 20+ cars, I've never been asked about service history.

Hi mate. I renewed my vw warranty with another vw warrenty for £980. This is there top level of cover that includes unlimited milage and also unlimited cost for parts and labour as we do a few miles. Find out what your vw quote includes. I know what your saying about paying for the services as this just seems like the biggest rip off going. My last engine oil and haldex service at vw was £450, how do they work that one out???! I think its worth it just for peace of mind......
Its worth pointing out that VW will not do an all component warranty on the R32 if the car is over 4 years old, the cover is reduced to named components
my warranty is up in april and i am in the same position toying with wether to renew or not. will be calling the stealers at some point today so will let you know how i get on
Well I have VW warranty and it finishes in August.

I have had the ECU 6463 update done (But had to go to another VW garage to get it done) , Thanks to VC for the advice for this.

Just have a rattle in the car and also the (Two) doors need adjusting as they need a slight slam to close them (Will this be covered)????

What can I get done under warranty,
(ie) cough cough, Something (To get my money's worth),lol.

In the past I have used Warranty Direct (On other cars), They have been very good indeed.
i currently have an all component warranty which states the following:

Replacement parts and labour will be paid for with the following exceptions:
  • Routine servicing (all parts replaced associated with routine servicing are excluded)
  • All bodywork, glass and seals

  • [*]Wear and perishable items as follows:
  • all adjustments, timing or cleaning
  • batteries
  • bulbs and fuses
  • coolent pipes and hoses
  • cv boot gaiters
  • exhaust systems (although catalytic convertors are covered)
  • interior and exterior trims
  • non-genuine manufacturers parts that are not of a matching quality
  • tyres and wheels
  • unencased drive belts
  • upholstery, interior and exterior trims
  • wiper blades and arms
  • wiring and connections (including ht leads and arial coaxial cables)
  • worn brake discs, drums and frictional material
  • worn clutch pressure plates, bearings and frictional material

the sales team were pretty ellusive today and didnt call me back either...will try again tomorrow
Caxton, they will charge you to adjust your door cards, this will probably cost you 1/2 an hours labour.........I think it depends on how much you use your r but with so much on that list that isnt covered it hardy seems worth buying the warranty in the first place??! I think i have the same as vc.

I will try and see what VW garage will say or try another VW garage (And hope to get it done as I hate slamming the door).:frustrated:
well discovered an issue so will find about the warranties when i visit the garage regarding this so will let you know prices then for my area
I decided yesterday to renew warranty with current company. Went out just now in car and 'Service Now' came up on display. Had got quotes for 3rd service, local Vw wanted £240. Specialist £211.
i really cant recommend Warranty Direct enough. Ive recently renewed with them at just over 400 pounds and it even covers wear and tear items like bushes. It covers far more than the VW warranty, believe me i work for them and see cases all the time not been covered.

When my cooling fans finally failed at 45k i called them gave them repair code and they authorised straight away, cheque immediately in post. Superb

well, after speaking to the dealership a new all component is wiping the A$$ of £900

just got a virtually identical policy with www.warrantydirect.co.uk

first time i've strayed away from a dealership but its half the price with all work to be done at vw garages.

Sorry for late reply, they sent cheque straight to dealer, admittedly i work for them so a little different but most dealers providing they can get faxed confirmation they will be paid will come to an agreement.

Really good company claims process dead easy.
I brought my 53 plate MK4 R32 in September last year and got VW warranty with the car.

Just want to know what, if anything, can be replaced during the warranty period,

i.e. coil covers

suspension springs etc etc.

(That's if I can find a good VW garage to do anything while it's still covered with VW warranty).
