I am a new guy and admittedly I is very little about the R32.
I love the car but my daughter glossaries removed it from my possession.
We would like to know if our R has an offset of +30 will a set with +20 work?
Thanks

I do not know where that grammar came from glossaries should has and is should be know
I believe it’s somewhere around ET51 for no offset. If you’re talking about wheels that are ET71, they will more than likely stick out past the fenders and rub without camber. Someone Correct me if I’m wrong.

Sorry. You are incorrect. The greater the offset, the more of the width of the wheel is on the inside. An offset of 0 would mean that the mounting face was on the mid line of the wheel,so 50% would be outwards, and 50% inwards. Anyway, pretty sure the golf is et51 as standard. Lots of folk run a 10 or 13 mm spacer, meaning that their ‘offset’ is either 41 or 38 . That still seems to work but beware of wheel width too . An extra 1/2” width will mean around 6mm further out and 6mm further in fir any given offset

So if I have +30 now can I switch to +20?
Thanks
Hmm. First you need to know what offset you have and what kind of wheelarch clearance you have. If indeed you are running et =30 and all is ok on the clearance front, you can try it by simply putting 10mm worth of washers behind a wheel to mimic a 20 mm offset and see what it looks like and whether you have arch clearance . What you do not want to do is blow a grand on some new wheels with an et=20 and then discover that the buggers don’t fit .

ET is also dependent on wheel width, so going wider means a different offset is required too... that needs taking into account.
