I seem to have developed a small whistle noise and I can't for the life of me find where it's coming from. If I accelerate or rev the car I get a slight whistle as I let go of the accelerator. I've also been getting some slight hesitation when accelerating sometimes. Anyone had a similar issue? It should like a vacuum leak but I'm not sure ????

Any pointers would be appreciated ????????

Where about in the car is it coming from Lee? Make sure all the connections in and around the air box are solid, normally the first culprit. Occasionally that flexi piece from the MAF can split. Got a spare if you need it.

It's the engine bay somewhere I think, it's really annoying me! I'll check that pipe tomorrow and let you know if I need it, it seems air related to me.

Any stiffness on braking compared to normal?
The usual air leak suspect is the brake hose servo... I'd put a hosepipe to your ear and move the other end around to see where really stands out. I found a vacuum leak on my Mk4 when I first got it with this method! :)

Would I also be leaking fluid or not if it was the servo unit?

No closer on this, just had my Mrs in the car pressing the accelerator whilst I listened outside. Couldn't find anything but she thinks it's coming from the rear..

I also found an open duct on my air filter, see photo below.

Is this normal?

Mine was actually a solenoid that was coming from the rear, it was a vacuum solenoid and if you go to the boot, open it and put your ear near the rear left tail light... That's where I heard mine the most

It was high pitch ringing sound but turned out to be an air leak which made that sound.... Was strange

If it's from the rear and goes away when you rev, I'll update you more on that bad boi

Also yes, your airbox thing is fine. They're massively manufactured components so they won't take too much out of their product, that hole on a turbo car would have a plastic pipe coming out of it where the rest of your vacuum line connects to for all the turbo solenoids etc, so that no dirt gets into the solenoids and what not. Yours will be sealed (or should be)

It only makes the noise when I rev and let go of the accelerator, I don't hear it any other time.

There's no bung in the airbox I can feel the filter through it!

It's not the exhaust as I've checked that and it's all sealed ???? I thought it was that at first.
