Seasons greetings!

I am after some advice as I have no idea what is causing what can only be described as irritating on my .:R

Until recently I haven't noticed it but above 40mph I seem to be getting a whistling noise from the rear passenger side but only when I take my foot of the accelerator.

It isn't a wind whistling noise and the doors are all OK. More of an electrical interference type whistle if that makes sense.

I had to jump my car on Wednesday night after stupidly allowing the battery to drain so wondering if it may be connected.

Any ideas?

Many thanks.

Paulie I wouldn't say it was much louder with the seats up. It's quite difficult to put my finger on. Definitely starts above 40 when I release the throttle.

Do you have any uprated stereo equipment in ur car? Mainly amp n that.
The only uprated stereo component is an Alpine headunit. Speakers, wiring etc are all OEM. It is that kind of sound though.

ok...if it was louder it may have been the fuel pump as it's located under the seat....under the black discs you can see
Bit diificult to pinpoint as I say. I would personally say that it is coming from further back than that.

Have a look at the pipework that runs to the exhaust flapper on the near side rear of the car. There's been a few instances where the pipes have had a split in them and it's the air escaping causing the noise.

I will do. It is definitely coming from the rear nearside. Just had a passenger in the back listen and it is coming from the boot area somewhere.

I have done the flapper mod some moths ago but not had this problem before. Could that be related?

It could well be related to the flapper mod, could be what ever was stuck in the pipe has fallen out?

If every thing seems ok around the flapper I would go with other recommendations of fuel pump covers off? Even take the top of the tank off if your confident enough and have a listen inside the tank itself.

Thanks Andy. I will have a look tomorrow.

Hope I can get it sorted as it's really annoying me now.

Now then I've had a quick look around the exhaust area and it doesn't appear to be a problem from there.

I think it is coming from the nearside rear quarter behind the interior panel in the boot. Any ideas?

Cheers

I've disconnected it mate to give it a better note.

I'm pretty sure it isn't this that is causing the noise.

Yeah. There's a screw tight into the end so no air escaping.

Did you ever find an outcome to this? It still happens to me most days (when colder) and doing my head in...ruins the point of having an R32 seeing as i can't hear that beautful engine note hardly due to the whistle!

Touch wood it isn't doing it at the moment. Although I still don't know the reason for it.

It's a strange one, i've never looked to see if it's anything to do with the pipes around the flapper. I'm going to have a good look this weekend to see if any pipes are split...sounds like something to do with a split pipe to me
