As they are 8.5J wide and ET31 it means they will stick out 33mm compared to the standard 7.5J ET51 wheel. Not sure how much clearance there is before you start rubbing on the arch.

The guru makes a mistake! Aristos are ET38...
As the wheels are 5x112, I am talking about MK5 on which the standard Zolders and Omanyts are ET51

I couldn't see his profile picture on my phone and assumed incorrectly he had a MK5 as the wheels were 5x112 and he continued discussing after being told the MK4 was 5x100 and there was no talk of adaptors.

I have never once claimed to be a guru

No, they'll stick out one J (25mm/1inch) + 20mm = 45mm more
i think.

You can make them work with 15mm adapters but at standard height it may poke too much.
also not sure what the deal is with r32 brakes.

Although the wheel is an extra inch wider, only half of that extra width affects the outside rim, half goes on the inside rim as tbe offset is measured from the wheel centre.. 20mm due to offset plus 13mm due to extra width.

This calculator confirms my calculation

You're calculation only works if the wheel mounting face is in line with the inner rim.

It doesn't matter anyway as we've established they won't fit.
