Hi guys, I’d like to start by saying I’m completely new to this forum so I’m not so sure where or how to start. I have previously been on UKMKIV’s when I had my 1.6 mk4 to which I had converted into a 1.8t and done a lot of mods and changes to that car which is now been stripped into pieces and sold off. So here’s my story... I purchased the car I always wanted.. I waited a very long time for the right spec to come up, a good example of a MK5 R32. I loved this car as it was literally only missing wingbacks and the RNS 510. The car was fully loaded! With only 42k miles on the clock previously owned by a director of a company for 8 years. I purchased this car from Sytner Lexus and paid top money for it until unfortunately the car started giving me mechanical and electrical problems within the first two weeks of owning it! It was a very bad experience as I sent the car back to Lexus who refused to give the car to VW for repairs as they were stingy! And attempted to fix it themselves but the upon returning the car back to me, the issues were all still there! I then made the heartbreaking decision and gave the car back with a full refund as they were not willing to do anything! After being slightly put off the R32, I then started searching again and came across another well kept example but this time it was a facelift version which again had been kept by a lady owner for 8 years with full VW service history, very well maintained car by the couple that owned it. So this is where my journey begins with the R32... Here are some pics: I did what every owner would do to their new car and gave it a good 4 step clean which included washing, claying, polishing and then sealing the cars paint. Thanks Alex, I did indeed.. spent a load of time and effort into that car. Damn I miss thing lol
But I have to say, the r32 is a good distraction 😂

Unfortunately the car did not come with the Armrest option which was really bugging me so I went to VW and got all the bits and bobs required to install the Armrest. I also ordered the duct piece in order for the rear vents to function properly. The other thing which did not look so good was the cup holders as the models which cane without the armrest option did not have the sliding lid cup holders 😕 So I managed to order those from VW while I was at it 😁 The non armrest models came with the air vent duct/guides blocked off with plugs which simply pull off and you can install the duct piece for the rear. Everything put back into place 😁 It got pretty dark by the time I had finished so the pictures look crap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I had already ordered the rubber mat for the drink holder as for some strange reason it only came with the bottle opener insert mat and not the other. Will be picking up the bits tomorrow from VW along with the Ashtray trim as my car did not even have that as a option extra 😏 I will post more pictures tomorrow once I have everything and will install it all tomorrow 😁 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just to update, I received the engine spin ashtray trim and lid and also got the unit itself and all installed 👍🏻 So much better!! Defo worth doing if your car did not come with it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's when it's being used as a divider to give 2 cupholders. When it's not it clips into bottle opener shaped ident in the base as shown in the photo.

The original one that came with the car was the steel one like you have been given. I don't think the later plastic ones would fit in the ident in the mat.

The 12v is exactly the same, only difference is that it’s now under a lid. It still has the flap on it.

However I will mention that the there is an small extra bit of clear plastic right next to the 12v to allow light into the cubby for the lid versions.
