I fitted one but to an Android Head Unit, same Socket port but the cable was standard USB A at the other end.

 

Fits perfectly and works fine. Pictured with a USB stick in the port

I forgot I retro fitted the mdi shelf

So going to maybe get a cable

Yep, connected it up to a Pioneer headunit, however i did have replace the cable with one that went to a USB end. Works a treat, did the same in my van too. 

 

There's some links on my build thread for all the bits to wire it up to a majority of headunit's plus bits for an Aux(if anyone still uses them). plus some pics
