Hello all

Hope this is the correct section, apologies to admins if I’m wrong!

Just picked up the R32 on Sunday, on my long 250+ mile drive back the traction light came on, it did go off after a restart of the engine but back on after a few miles...

Managed to get VAG COM, pictures attached, I did clear them but these two keep coming back instantly, a clutch censor angle intermittent one was initially there but has not returned (yet)

Any ideas where to start? - If you recommend a replacement sensor, could you please also offer a part code or link?

Much appreciated

Both fault codes seems to relate to Haldex.

Thanks, I assume this is a luck of the draw fix now.

Could be the controller, wiring, motor etc?

Got it booked in for next Monday, if it is the Controller is it worth getting one of those upgraded v2 ones?

Hi. The haldex oil pressure/temp sensor is the one I made a red circle around in this picture=

Controller.jpg

The bigger next to it is the actual clutch control valve. The small 2 pin plug is the cable that run from your controller to your haldex pump. The big plug with many pins is the plug for the cable that goes from the car to the controller. You could contact these guys that have much experience in repairing gen2 haldex controllers in the uk. They could give you a better guess in what the problem is when it only show fault codes for the pressure sensor, and what your options are. My guess is an internal fault inside the controller=

Thank you for the info, gives a little more clarity on what I’m working with.

Before I cleared any codes to see what came back it did also have an intermittent On a clutch angle sensor so I’d imagine that’s in relation to what you’ve pointed out too.

I assume if it’s the controller at fault, if I replaced it with a V2 controller with the different programmed modes, would this rectify it? (If it is truly the controller at fault)

With V2, do you mean a sports controller? If the controller is at fault - absolutely, that would fix the problem. But they are very expensive.

That is why I suggested the haldex repair place as they can fix your old controller for far less.

Yeah that’s what I meant, that’s cool I may end up using them but I have a 12 month warranty with the car which it’s going on Monday to be claimed on so unsure if that means I’ll get a new module or a repair.

If it’s found to be the module anyway! - I did message that place and they said normally those codes usually mean contacts have gone or water/corrosion on the underside.

Hopefully this one is now sorted :)

After heading under the car, it was clear why the unit was not working.... a nice corrosion hole or impact mark on the edge of the top case..

After the advice of going to the haldex repair specialist in Crewe, I gave them a call where I spoke to Matt who is unbelievably helpful.. after a good chat I sent this in, not being very hopeful as you could hear some salt/grit or something inside the unit.

Well the next day, Matt was back in touch and surprisingly the board was not in bad shape at all and has been reconditioned, casing replaced, new seal and even changed with a new oil sensor too!

Just received it today, popped it on, cleared the codes and now I only have a code for the radio (which is now aftermarket) - So far without taking it for a drive the original issue which kept reappearing even as I cleared the code has now gone.

I’ll report back later tonight on the actual drive test.

All in though if anyone needs a haldex looking at, the “auto fault finder” or https://www.haldexrepairs.co.uk are the guys to go to.
