Driving today, luckily as I drove down my street from work, and the battery light comes one. Pull on the drive and pop the bonnet and smell burning. And see the aux belt has snapped down the middle and hanging off! Removed half but half is clearly still trapped. Any idea on costs and how much hassle it is please? Nightmare pal!, VW dealer price is £379.49 as mine was in for service last month and on the inspection they advised a new belt. I don’t know how difficult it is to do yourself so I’d be interested to hear from others who tackled the job themselves. I’ve done a bit of digging and think these are the parts required: 022145933AP ribbed belt, 022145299L tensioner assembly, 022145276F idler pulley, N91032901 tensioner bolt.

thanks for the reply. i think a belt change is about £80, as it was on my last service sheet as an advisory :-(

 

them parts look about right from what i have being seraching for ta. they do a full tensioner kit in the usa but cant find it here.

 

i think my tensioner has gone kurput to, if thats the wheel in the top of the pic

Removed wheel and inner arch and unwrapped the other half of the belt from around the lower pulley. Looks like the tensioner has seized and then melted! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
