Well as a lot of you may know I have been in America for 2 weeks and I am now skint.

Before I went away I started correcting my boot lid as it had rust and chips.
Attached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1400706586.647580.jpg   72.71KB   15 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1400706605.531033.jpg   71.95KB   21 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1400706633.448284.jpg   89.49KB   19 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1400706658.131205.jpg   82.55KB   23 downloads

So it was left like that, just need to get the rotary on it now to remove the lines. And I scratched the paint when trying to get the crap handle back in 😡 hate that handle so much.

Just renewed my insurance with flux, booked the car in the garage on the 2nd for this lot to be fitted. Attached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1400706872.447494.jpg   99.8KB   19 downloads

Once that's done I am planing (if I have funds) to axle stand the car get the front and rear bumpers re-sprayed and while that's being done I want to re-spray the brakes blue and correct some more of the paint before inters.

Going to be busy the next few months.
Oh and finally fitted my arm rest Attached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1400707039.597724.jpg   72.3KB   19 downloads

Well the deep clean commences. The bumpers are at the body shop for the week and I am working on the car everyday evening after work if I can.

Had a little problem getting the rear lights out last night because of the ridiculous design. Managed to get the drivers side out after a fashion but ended up braking the location pin on the passenger side light.

When I removed the front arch liners there was packed dirt behind by the skirts and even a screwdriver.
Got home after work today and removed both the driver side wheels and pressure washed the arches.
I sprayed iron-x on the suspension to clean them up a bit, then cleaned the wheels.
Attached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1402345540.602985.jpg   87.52KB   14 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1402345559.886295.jpg   82.24KB   15 downloads
That was after I had hooked the mountains of dirt out.

Attached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1402345593.002893.jpg   88.91KB   12 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1402345613.853202.jpg   66.25KB   13 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1402345624.170418.jpg   70.63KB   14 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1402345634.553098.jpg   89.36KB   16 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1402345655.903113.jpg   105.47KB   15 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1402345666.019663.jpg   89.63KB   15 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1402345676.320047.jpg   95.31KB   12 downloads

I gave the arch liners a good scrub down too.

More to come tomorrow!

Well yesterday I rubbed back my rear cross member and started painting it.
Attached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1402522766.400939.jpg   85.23KB   9 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1402522777.334462.jpg   86.97KB   9 downloads

And I then started wet sanding the rear boot and scratches.

Tonight I started spraying the boot, I also filled in chips with filler and went around with a super fine art brush painting chips and scratches.

Tomorrow I will continue the boot and start wet sanding and polishing the chips I filled today.

Well as I have been doing my car every night this week the Missis wanted to see me and do something, so I didn't get much done.

I rubbed down the in fills I did last night ready for a polish up. The chip on the roof was the worst one so that needs a little more filling before a polish up.

I used super fine pad to rub on the boot and then applied more paint.

Attached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1402609043.752813.jpg   87.26KB   13 downloads

This was before I sanded the fills flat.

And had a few goodies turn up today.

Meguiars NXT All Metal Polish
SONAX Microfibre Drying Towel
Z-10 Leather in a Bottle
Chemical Guys - V.R.P Dressall

That's it for now.

I have finished spraying the boot lid, ready to be machined in the week.

Front and rear left hand side brake callipers painted.
Washed the car again and it's ready for machine polishing in the week.

Tail pipes are off ready for a good polish.

I was a bit hungover this morning but managed to get a few bits done. The Missis even have me a hand :D
Two wheels poorboyed and arch liners back in.
New R centre caps fitted.

Still waiting for my bumpers 😡 the guy that's doing them is a top painter and a friend but he's really unreliable. Going over to see him tomorrow.

Ok so yesterday I finished my boot and to be fair for a spray can job it doesn't look half bad. The only bad thing and it really really pi**ed me off, when I pealed the tape off the handle the tape took the lacquer off 😡.
So I have to re spray the handle again.
Attached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1403132414.387029.jpg   76.56KB   9 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1403132426.620320.jpg   74.71KB   10 downloads

It's a lot better than seeing a rust patch. It defiantly won't be long term, I will get the whole thing re sprayed and do the mk5 latch conversion as I "hate" the mk4 set up.

Received these as well big thanks to jackr32 👍 Attached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1403132569.519649.jpg   114.08KB   12 downloads

And the best bit, I fitted these after work. Attached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1403132595.221072.jpg   80.52KB   12 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1403132604.020577.jpg   106.42KB   16 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1403132611.736372.jpg   96.99KB   17 downloadsAttached File  ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1403132621.103694.jpg   99.06KB   16 downloads

The car needs a wash it's covered in dust, but I am very pleased with the bumpers. Big thanks to Scott at custom paint works in Bridport Dorset, top bloke.

The match is perfect.

Things left to do, stick two arch liners back in, paint driver side callipers, wash clay and rotary, poorboys driver side wheels and then clean the engine bay and interior. Oh and sort the crappy handle out and fit the adjustable tie arms.

Alex

Fitted my adjustable tie arms today. If anyone has bought compbrake adjustable tie arms I highly recommend using the original nut and bolts. I started tightening the compbrake Allen key nut and bolt supplied with the tie arms, and before it was even tight the nut shredded. Not cool.

Car is booked into ats on Monday for 4 wheel alignment.

Tail pipes are back on too.
Going to wash it in a bit hopefully. Would be nice to paint the other two callipers and get the wheel liners back in.

Since the tie arms have been fitted the rear end has been seriously high. So yesterday I decided to take the adjusters off and let it sit on its ass.

So I got a phone call from my dad this afternoon telling me to sit down. He went on to tell me something I never wanted to hear, someone has reversed into the front of my R.
My car is parked on our private drive way but the driveway has right of way to holiday makers next door.

So yea I'm not best pleased considering I only had my bumpers re sprayed just over a couple months ago.
The guy turned out to be French but he has taken full responsibility for it and we are sorting it all out. But he is only here for a week so I am hoping it can be sorted fairly quickly :(

The wing is dented slightly by the light and the bumper will need a full re spray and the light level system is making a horrid noise.

Haven't updated this in ages. Nothing to report either 😔
Because I have been busy with the mk2 I haven't done anything with the R at all, just been washing and driving it.

I am seriously considering selling up next year and buying a mk6 R20 though, I fancy something a little different and more modern. But I'm not sure what to do 😔

Cheers
Alex
