Next year I'm looking to upgrade the discs on the R, to bigger drilled ones. Haven't decided on what yet, the R is in Moonlight Blue and currently has on blue calipers which look a bit old and could do with sprucing up.

As I'm in the early days of deciding on discs and pads i'm looking at everything, when I came across these Porsche Calipers in Yellow. http://www.ebay.co.u...cvip=true&rt=nc

It's not a colour I would usually go for but thought it might go well with the Moonlight Blue. Was interested on what other owners thought, does anyone have yellow calipers or has anyone seen the on an R, if so what do they look good? As we all know it's not about how pads ad discs perform but how good they look!

Without meaning to sound like a complete newb, why would it matter if there is a lip on the discs?

Bailey's black R has yellow callipers, looks so sick but his interior is yellow too

Some disks have a wear indicator on them now a bit of a cut away to show how far away from replacement. Don't mean to walk dog mess through your house, but bet those disks ain't cheap. I might upgrade mine to soon. Hope this helps. Do look nice tho.

Shouldn't really matter much with a lip on discs if he uses the same pad although with the carriers made for vw to Porsche fitment they may change the way the pad lies on the surface

Take the discs to be skimmed doesn't cost much to do from an engineering place or ask a garage to recommend a place to do it

Thanks for the explanation, I wasn't looking to replace to the discs in the auction I listed, I was merely using it as a reference point for the colour i was thinking about. Last time I upgraded brakes on a car I got EBC Greenstuff discs and pads, although I did get some odd looks putting grooved and drilled discs on a 4x4 I was really happy with what I ended up with, no complaints car stopped on the money. I may go down the EBC route again.

What's happening with exhaust?

Yeah 13 hours yesterday, stopped for fuel.crazy traffic!! Was an awesome day, with awesome guys. Hope you can come along one day

I only got my R in August off someone who had it from new, so I'm the second owner. The car looked mint condition on the inside, good paint work and drove fine. I immediately booked it in to VAG specialist and got them to do a full inspection.

Came back with needing a new radiator, current radiator is brand new but has been punctured by installers using non original bolts that were too long and when re-fitting they have punctured the new radiator by wining bolts all the way in. Also top mounts and exhaust will need replacing in about a year as still the original exhaust and quite corroded. Also the flapper in the current exhaust isn't opening and closing properely.

I know most people go for Miltek non-res, was thinking I would go for a Milltek Resonated though as don't like the drone on motorways or in London. Then I thought If i'm going to spend that much money why not spend a bit more and get one made up. Then it go me thinking about how many silencers to have and am now back at step one.

Glad you had a good day after such a long drive. I'm looking forward to a meet, Brooklands one would of been perfect for me but I couldn't go as was with my dad and could't cancel. I've never been to Brooklands before.

Christ! Sounds like you've had a right old time! Custom is the way foreward, it's relatively cheap also.

Resonated with twin silencers for better flow would be awesome.

Twin silencers are noiser than the usual single suitcase, not many people have it but if FI is in the pipeline you would kill 2 birds with one stone :-)
