Been meaning to start a thread for weeks it's Sunday I'd usually give the Golf a clean and go for a blast but the weather's poo so I thought bugger it let's get this thread sorted!

So I got my little beasty beauty on the 9th of Jan 2014 about 7 weeks ago. 2003, FSH, 73k and totally mint, not one tiny dint anywhere and struggle to even find a stone chip she really is a great example. I'm guessing the front end must of had a blow over at some point it's ridiculously clean.
Also another good thing is I know some of the cars history, the guy I got it off (a valeter) got it from my mate who owned and loved the car for 2 years or so.
Anyway the only mods she had were what my mate did which was, milltek manifolds, decat, scorpion cat back, smoked wind deflectors, matt black front grill and it's had the ecu update at some point too.

Here's some pics of when I first got her....

One of my first mods was the VW was missing from the engine cover and the guy happened to give me some R 65mm wheel cap covers which he ordered by accident (too large for mk4 alloys) so I cut the plastic from behind and sanded it down and it fit perfectly.
Attached File  20140110_091445.jpg   43.87KB   24 downloads

To be continued I'm doing this on my phone so am gonna do it in stages I'm scared to loose what I've done so far lol

I then came across this liquid wrap which is very similar to plasti dip which if you don't know already is a plastic/rubber spray which comes in many colours, drys in almost seconds (with a hairdryer) is very durable and also if you like you can just peel it off. I thought this would be ideal as when the time comes to selling the R32 the buyer can put it back to standard if he wishes by just peeling it off.....simples.

Then I decided to go for a simple induction kit for some more engine grunt so I went for a pipercross just for now.
Also removed bonnet sound deadening and got the bonnet all nice clean and shiny.
I may purchase the rtech heat shield in the summer but to be honest I don't go far in my R (weekend toy) and I never sit in in traffic and I've been for a few blasts and pulled up to check filter temp and it's hardly even warm so it's fine for now.

Next was stubby aerial. I wasn't happy with the gap so I cut a couple of mm off the thread but I still wasn't happy.

So then I came up with an idea, got a blade and cut a rubber ring off the end of the old aerial and it fitted perfectly, finally happy :)

Thanks mate I forgot to mention the wheel caps he gave me were the R ones and are 65mm I have edited post now but if you look at the pic you can see it fits pretty much bang on. I also used another R wheel cap in a great mod I did yesterday which you will see when I get to that part :)

Next mod. The front number plate had a small mark just above it and I mean small but because the car is so mint it annoyed me so I decided to make use of the rear number plate holder which I removed when fitting the new pressed plates. I wasn't keen on the writing on the holder so I sanded it all down and sprayed it using gunmetal liquid wrap to match and bring the colour onto the front if the car which then also covered the mark up. Happy days!

Another great little touch up mod cost me about £4 best £4 I ever spent which is leather paint pen to sort the bolster out. The interior is immaculate apart from this so I wanted to sort it asap and although not brand new leather looks a hell of a lot better and way less noticeable now.

Now for window tints on the rears. Now I've got to admit they did turn out darker than what I originally wanted as I just wanted a light tint but luckily they were not as dark as I first thought especially when the sun is out and with the mods I was planning on doing knew they would look better eventually, I was close to ripping them out at first lol glad I didn't now! I'm hoping you agree towards the end of my thread :)

Next up was something I was looking forward to the most spraying the alloys with using the gunmetal grey liquid wrap. Like I've said before it's great stuff really easy to use, drys fast and totally removable!
The hardest part was waiting for a bloody dry day!
Whilst the wheels were off I freshened all the calipers up too using a hammered blue finish.
Oh and brand new centre caps as the old ones had seen better days!

Some pics.....

Next up new rear lights, I have always loved these smoked lights when I've seen them before so I thought I'd get a pair and at the same time clean the filth up behind the lights.

Then I eyed up some smoked indicators these are very close to the oem ones not horrible ones covered in lines which I've seen in the past.

Using the liquid wrap I've sprayed the front VW and R32 badges which I think finishes off the R nicely.
I've spent less than £200 all in and been pretty busy past 7 weeks and I am really happy with the results.
The great thing is it's pretty much all reversible for when time of sale comes so it's best of both worlds although I'd prefer whoever buys it to like it as it is lol it's not going anywhere for a while though I love it more each day it's really grown on me. No where near the fastest car I've owned but the R32 is not about that, it's just a pleasure to drive.

And my final little mod I did yesterday.....The VW steering wheel badge for some reason was covered in light scratches, I have seen badge covers for the mk5 on ebay but they are too small.
So using the 65mm R wheel caps I got given with the Golf I heated it up and managed to get the badge off cleanly which fits perfectly over the old badge. Great little mod and cost me nothing :)

Aha! this is funny! :)

My mate has the 2.8 v6 4 motion...nicely modded, with a few R touches (interior aluminium trim, gear knob
, rs4 alloys, lowered 35mm, colour coded front and rear bumper valance) value estimate of about 1.5k max and when I first bought my R, he struggled getting his head
around what you get extra with the 5.5k cost difference! Until I let him take her for a spin...... he got out the car with a huge smile on his face, handed back the key's in a child like manner and called me an arsehole lol! Repeatively!

Nice car, with some nice touches! planning anymore mods?
I could suggest a few nice ones imo should you be interested.

Haha nice one bud sounds like the perfect response to me!

Think I'm about done mods wise mate I don't want to over do it and take it away from being an R32. There's so many reps about I personally wouldn't want to change the wheels or anything. I've considered lowering but I'm happy as it is for now, there's stupid ass speed bumps at my gym and if it was any lower I'd have to start stocking cupra r splitters lol
Out of interest what's your opinion on extra mods dude?
What's your r32 like bud have you done much to yours?

Yeah, I know what you're saying...... I like to think im the same as you.
I have changed the alloys, but still have the originals..... they're in need of some repairs though.
I put my car into a concrete barrier on the motorway back on Jan the 1st when we had that bad weather, caused by a mix of aquaplaning and ignorance on my behalf.
heres a link to my re-build thread.

https://www.r32oc.com...-fixer-mk4-r32/

I used to own an R32 in reflex silver..... sold it because my heart was really set on the one I now own.
Its an acquired taste I guess but I ended up putting rear tinted lights on her and it really looked awesome in my opinion. Again, these mods could be put back to original if you keep the parts like I do.
I'll try dig out a picture of what she looked like with them on for you to look at.

A more recent mod that I've done to mine that all cars nowadays have, is foot well lights and welcome home lights!
If you check out my thread you'll see it all there.

Also....about lowering your car! my car is currently sat on 35mm H&R spring which in my opinion is a nice stance for someone that doesn't want to go to low due to bumps.
I've not once scraped the floor at my current ride height.
With that said though.... I will be looking to put her on a set of coilovers and uprated anti roll bars in the near future :)

Have you got any spacers on your car?
