Dead Speedo!

Not sure if this has been asked before, but my speedo has died (completely!) and my fuel gauge rocks up and down depending on how i'm driving telling me to re-fuel all the time.. even when i'm half full.

I had a new clutch fitted at Christmas and thought that perhaps the speedo may not be connected properly at the gearbox, but that does not explain the fuel gauge issue.

Could there be an electrical issue with the right hand side of the dash/dials... cambus maybe?

Any help appreciated,

Goose

Might be a long shot but had an issue a while back with another motor and it turned out to be the idle speed control valve. Had the same issue with the petrol guage, just didnt register half the time and the car speedo worked every now and again but the rev counter still worked fine. Also the car was a little lumpy

Not sure if, and where, the R has this though. Might be way off but worth a comment

if its only happened since the clutch has been fitted, take a look at the earth strap on the gearbox, thats a main earth and if its not tight/clean connect you can experience many faults.
There is also a multi-plug for the speedo on the gearbox which may have been left off by accident....this happened to me. ;)

The earth is sweet mate, i just checked it... so is the connector on the speed sensor, i even swapped the sensor off my mates racing leon..

to see if it was that, but no joy.

Am still to check the idle speed control valve tho, so fingers crossed.
