Door Controller Gen2 > Gen3

Hi, I've replaced my passenger door controller from Gen2 to Gen3 (both max) and now have the mirror dip on reverse working.. but now the door lock and window button don't work (as well as passenger side mirror fold)! I know the door exit warning lights and door ground pins are changed on the 32pin connector... BUT is there any changes to the 20pin connector? I found a thread elsewhere which states pin swaps on it but can't find any other references, problem is I can't quite understand his notes.

Has anyone successfully done this swap?

Thank you

Thank you... the link is http://forums.vwvort...=1#post69829996

The last post is where the information is (#16) but I can't understand

"T8ab mirror motor connector to the left and T20B door controller connector to the right" am I needing to move the cables around on the 20pin door connector to match below, if so which ones do I follow?

pin8 > pin15 - brown/yellow
pin2 > pin16 - yellow
pin5 > pin3 - blue/white
pin4 > pin13 - green/white
pin1 > pin11 - lilac
pin7 > pin7 - Brown

on golfs 2006 and on

pin8 > pin7 - brown/yellow
pin2 > pin13 - yellow
pin5 > pin3 - blue/white
pin4 > pin2 - white
pin1 > pin12 - lilac
pin7 > pin6 - brown

The passeger door has the following problems:
Door doesn't lock
Window switch doesn't work (works from the drivers side)
Car doesn't see door is closed
Folding mirror doesn't work
Heated mirror doesn't work

So it does look like the Central locking isn't connected properly which matches the guy's statement "You can see above the difference in the wiring and the change is only to the central locking nothing else."

This is the only mention on any website of having to do this so I'm a bit confused, any help would be appreciated.

My car was registered Feb 2006 btw

i've just been cheeking through elsawin and there are yes a lot of differences, first i wouldn't power up the your new module in case it causes damage to something.

i'll post up what you need to do soon, as i'm busy all day but will try to sort it.

if you pvt me your email i can send you 2 pdf's one of gen 2 one of gen 3 , but i will post the pin changes by the end of tomorrow

Right, with a special Thank You to Si with the wiring diagrams he sent out I have managed to confirm the pin swaps required - nearly everything is now working (i.e. door now locks and knows when it's open)

Now I need to work out:
Why the power mirror won't fold (passenger) (I suspect the controller doesn't support it - even though it does have the pins
Image
)
Confirm if the heated mirror is working

The pin swaps in my last post now make sense - this is what I had to do on the 20pin connector:

old > new - colour
pin15 > pin7 - brown/yellow
pin16 > pin13 - yellow
pin3 - blue/white (no change)

pin2 - white (no change)
pin4 > pin13 - green/white
pin11 > pin12 - lilac
pin7 > pin6 - Brown

pin12 > pin18 - red/yellow

on the 32pin connector:
pin22 > pin25 - grey
pin2 > pin21 - brown
pin8 > pin15 - purple/white
With door exit warning lights, they go in pin18 (+12v) and pin19 (gnd)

Hope this helps someone else in the future - will update when I resolve the power mirror fold problem

I'm totally stuck with the folding mirrors, it seems they work differently on GEN2 and GEN3... On the Gen2 they don't seem to be coded by the door module where as on the Gen3 they are coded on the door module.

My Gen2 Drivers side coding doesn't have +4096 available i.e. it doesn't even appear in the list, however on my passenger side Gen3 it's there (although the coding isn't being accepted)... drivers side folds and passenger doesn't.

I can't understand how the drivers side side knows it has folding mirrors if it's not coded on the door - I'm completely confused!!
Going through the tests on the door controller on VCDS, both tests the folding mirror but passenger one just doesn't move.

I'm left wondering if I need to by pass the controller for the two wires to the folding motor some how... investigating
