Is Mk4 top speed limited to 155mph?

Hi all, I've just been for a high speed cruise on a 'close, private road' and couldn't seem to get the car above 155. It still had about 600rpm left before it was near to the redline. My mates Mk5 just went stomping to over an indicated 160mph and it did 140 - 160 alot faster? Is my car just slower and not limited?

Let's just hope there is no debris on these, "long private roads" because I would hate to turn up to a smouldering R32 with an R32OC.com sticker on it...
i know! speeds of 100+ give you VERY little time to react/slow hence the reason why i never do stupid speeds on public roads. Yet some people do regularly and that is pretty scary. (ive not heard of a mkv finding a wall or central reservation yet but it is only a matter of time).

Glad you guys have the time and money to take your cars onto tracks every week or so to enjoy the benefits of all these upgrades you have...................Personally don't think there is anything wrong with the odd venture above 100mph given the right road and driving conditions.

take your car over to germany and do it legally ..... it's great there because you really do get the big guns opening their cars up unlike over here when you think your R32 is beating a decent car where in reality out they weren't trying or didn't want to lose their licence !

just be very careful if in built up areas - the germans are a lot stricter than us on speeding in low speed areas - and they hide unlike here where (officially) the speed camera is supposed to be visible .........:top:
