Launch Control in a Manual?

I was reading on another forum that a form of launch control was possible with the manual gearbox.
The post suggested that following the same method as with the DSG, (eg esp off first) Clutch down, the car will limit itself to 2700rpm when revved in 1st gear, so dropping the clutch show give a nice prompt but controlled launch.
Anyone know if this is true or will it just knacker the clutch or land me with a nice bill for new tyres?
I'd have thought the haldex should handle that sort of power without causing to much stress?
Any thoughts.?
Was going to try it out, but don't think the neighbours would appreciate it at this time of night

Interesting mod. Seems pretty reasonable price too, for what it does.
Would definitely consider it if I ever go down the FI route.
Not sure I would bother on stock though.
Just have to practice better clutch/acceleration control instead

There are remaps now that have got the option of having launch control ( revs set to a desired rpm) and also flat shift also called no lift shift.

United motorsports remap did that, also rtech

There is also some maps which blip the throttle as u down shift, which sort of mimicks heal toe

I know those places do mk4, not sure if they do mk5 , also there's a place called mrc which does flat shift and launch rpm
