Hello to everyone I’m new here and also an new owner of an really nice golf mk5 r32.
The reason for this post ( hope it’s in the right place ) it’s that I don’t really know what oil I need for the engine , gearbox and haldex and how many litres for each. If you guys can help me with this information as I would like to do the maintenance myself. So any extra stuff that will be required please add them. I’m live in uk so if possible parts that I find in uk. Thank you

Welcome to R32 ownership. If you have a handbook with your car it will specify the oils and the volumes required . However, for the engine, allow 6 litres of quality 10-40 . Haldex and DSG are very specific , but readily available complete with service kits of filters, plugs etc if you plan to do it yourself . For the Haldex, 0.85litres are required and the DSG I would need to look up, but from memory I needed 5, 1 litre bottles of the stuff. Reputable independent garages will do the job and use the correct fluids, so will dealers but the cost can get, err, significant.

hello and thank you for your time. Yes the garage wanted about 700£ just for the oils not an full service. So I believe I can do it myself. Unfortunately I don’t have the car book. But I will try to find it online

Yes. You can , and it is not too bad. The videos on YouTube are really handy . Engine oil is very straight forward. The hard bit is getting the car up onto axle stands and the front plastic under tray out of the way . Haldex is also o.k and can be filled just by using the plastic bottle that contains the Haldex oil with its flexible tube, invert and squeeze and you are away . Draining the DSG is easy but refilling is a bit more of a faff. However, given that the oil filter is (a) on top of the box and (b) removed, you can refill there , but it will take a while . Start with Youtube, then ebay for the stuff ( allow about £230) for everything ) and then off you go .
