RNS 510 - Does this have IPOD Control?

Hi,

My RNS510 has now arrived from germany and is due to be fitted on Thursday. I have requested that they fit an ipod connection at the same time...

Does anybody know if this unit has ipod control built into the software? I don't know whether to get the ipod connection set up in the glovebox or get it mounted on view so that I can change tracks without having to open the glovebox!

I hope this makes sense!!

Nope, the iPod interface is just as crap as with any other VW headunit. That's down to the way the iPid connects to the headunit - through the CD changer interface and that interface is quite limited in what it can do.

There is a new MDI interface coming soon which may be a better option than the current iPod connection. There's (limited) information about the MDI interface here,
